No... I didn't expect the younger ones or the Brits to understand that...
Romper Room was a children's show from the 50's and maybe on into the early 60's. Miss Sally (or Miss Cathy, or Miss Barbara, or whoever was doing the show at any given time), would hold up her "magic mirror" (a hand mirror without the mirror in it), look through it and say she saw Tommy, and Janie, and Betty, and Bobby, and Stevie, and Richie, and Ruthie, etc.
All the little kids at home would wonder how she saw them and knew *their* names ... but *I* would sit there wondering how it was that she could see everyone else but not *me*!
Thus began my career as an invisible person...
