A Conversation for The Manifesto for the Campaign to rename Thursday, "Thing"

(How did I even come across this?)
I hereby stand or the rights of the standard seven day week to contain seven days all ending in "-day". I also defend the memory of the Norse god Thor, protector of farmers and children who are sometimes afraid of pencil sharpners; a memory which has been enshrined in the name of Thursday.
Thankyou 1 & all.

Hmm... I shall have to join the revoloution, Clive. (no, I'm not stalking you by talking only in your forums, you're the only one of my h2g2 friends whose page is really up and running at this early date).
Now, what was the new idea for the days' names?
Thursday= Thing
Friday= Poet's Day
I can't remember anything other than that. I ran across it in the yahoo forum thing *shudder* (that was horrible trying to follow), but can you just fill me in? I need to remark my calendars.

hallo clive, amy, and inkwash the blastphemer, i'll let clive tell you why thursday *spit*(oops,house rules)should be changed to thing as his missionary zeal on the subject is, er, missionary. but friday to become poets day is a great idea! i mean whats the point of having yet another day named after some Scandinavian bint(Odins wife,Frigga,apparently)?BTW amy, was it you who posted the first stanza from W. Blake's "Augurys of innocence" in yaboo a few weeks ago? if it was, ta, made me read the whole thing, i've been "mused"
acidbath (grand visier thingits faction)

Probably wasn't me, seeing as I don't remember it. There are two researchers that go by Amy here at h2g2, myself, and Amy the Ant. But, hey, a "musing" is a good thing!

"Monday", it was suggested could become "Sodit" as in the first sounds eminating from most people's lips when the realise it's the begining of a new week and they are going to have to get out of bed. Other day-names up for redesignation were "Tuesday" to become "Wimpy" (It has something to do with a Popeye characters preference for a fast-food outlet and the spatial-temporal mechanics of comic-book publishing viewed through the eyes of a child.) I still think "Wibble" is a good candidate to replace "Wednesday" (Kinda roles of the tounge, Sodit, Wimpy, Wibble, Thing, Poets. - don't you think?)
The Manifesto for "Why, Thing?" is available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A516647 it's a bit sparse on the detail but this is Ideology-for-the-hell-of-it (TM.) so if you can think of anything else you want to add, feel free.
(And Inkwash, you can still join us.. Viva La Révoloution! - You know it makes sense.)
The reason, my page is fully functioning so early, is I have to confess that while a majority of the researchers were still languishing on yahoo...a select few of us were invited in early before the re-launch to test whether everything still worked (there were some bugs that we picked up) and to respond to the new enforcement of the T&C's (Yes, *STILL* no spitting ). Paul, if Yahoo seemed to be a wee bit empty for the past week and 1/2 this is probably the reason! *sheepish grin*
Anybody is welcome to post in my conversations, I like the company. Here , and for all ! ! !
Clive.
P.S I DID get elected President of the Hall.

Hi Clive
Long Live the Revolution!
Have you had any thoughts on Saturday and Sunday? I remember something in Yaboo about 'Sadderday' but I'm not sure this has the right ring to it. Sunday to me should be 'Boredom' or 'Tedium' since it involves things like Songs of Praise, the Omnibus edition of Eastenders and everywhere in the outside world being shut. This may just be a personal thing, though.
'Sodit', I must say, is a stroke of genius!

Now listen very carefuly, I shall zay ziz unly Vonce...

No we never did get around to redesignating the weekend.... Hmmmm. If anyone has any suggestions post 'em in this forum and I *will* get around to adding some more to The Manifesto.

I'll join you in changing Monday to Sodit, and I've always thought Wednesday could do with a change, but I stand by my convictions on Thursday (Yes, I said THURSDAY! ) and I feel that Friday should stay the same at least for the sake of the TGIF establishments.

Oh I agree. Amy is very good at what she does.
Clive (In awe.)
Inkwash is welcome to participate in championing Sodit as well as Wimpy and Wibble, if he has political affections with...Thursday, then he is welcome to them (we preach tolerance and understanding round these parts.) We be Thingites and proud of it!
