What instrument(s) do you play, or want to play? Do you sing?
Guitar - electric mainly, although known to dabble on acoustic.
Do you have a favorite composer, musical artist, band, or music genre?
Can you call Sting a composer? Police stuff prefered to solo work.
Is there anything in particular you would like from the Musicians Guild?
I'll wait and see what kind of things are on offer and what I can give back too.

Hello Jane
Welcome to the Guild - you can find the membership badge A434648
And I'd say Sting counts as a composer, as well as a great bass player

I play Guitar (both electric and acoustic), Trumpet/cornet and am currently trying to re-teach(is that a word?) myself the piano. I also want to learn to play the sax, bass, drums, aught I can lay my hands on really.
I listen to pretty much anything, blues, jazz, folk, Punk, metal, soft rock, funk, rock 'n' roll some r 'n' b and hip hop. I couldn't really pick a fave musician, band or composer.
I suppose I want to meet other musicians and get more ideas for my own music.

Hello jargonCCNA
Welcome to the Guild - the membership badge can be found at A434648.
You know, I think you're the first didgeridoo player to sign up since I started maintaining the list

According to tradition I'm not sposed to play the didgeridoo, but I have before. In primary school, before people started respecting the tradition of only guys playing it. And of only Aboriginals playing it...

Hi Danny B. and Farlander,
Today's been a bright day for me for it suddenly dawned on me how to avail of my Music. Guild Mbrship Badge. I now have the badge "affixed" to my Personal Space and feel very officially installed!!
Thought I'd like to share with you both my joy at this.

I'd like to join the Guild, if I may. I haven't been around long, but since you lot are so friendly and helpful (and since no talent is required...), this is something I'd be honored to take part in.
As I've said elsewhere, I'm not much of a musician, but I do love music. I played trombone in school for a time, and I spend a fair bit of free time fiddling around with my guitar.
As for music preferences, I like almost every genre, some more than others... as a rule of thumb the only ones I avoid are country, Christian, and rap (though I've found at least one song I like from each). I do lean towards classical music though, for the most part, and I love the sound of strings.

Hey, I just noticed that my thread got a link on your front page! And I'm not even in the guild. So I thought I should join up. I hadn't before cause I haven't actually played anything in quite some time. But I'm sure that doesn't matter. So here goes.
I play french horn mostly. I haven't actually played much since high school but I think I could still do it. I also learned to play trumpet badly in highschool. More recently I have attempeted to learn to play guitar and piano/keyboards mostly on my own. I sing badly.
My favorite composer is.... Debussy.
My favorite work is Holst "The Planets"
My favorite band is.... can't decide
I don't know if Sting is a composer.
For now I don't need anything from the Guild that I can think of. You have already done so much by promoting my thread.

1. I'm another hapless guitarist. My styles range from Classical to Metal to the beautiful convergance of the two (Melodic Metal?), though I most enjoy Spanish Classical and otherwise Flamenco peices. I also play piano, am slowly learning French Horn, and I'm a helpless purchaser/maker of miscellaneous instruments (didgeridoo, little kid toy instruments, bongo/pots and pans played with chopsticks, etc.).
2. My all-time favorite composer is Nobuo Uematsu, the powerhouse music brain behind Final Fantasy and many other Squaresoft games. I've gone as far as to gather a small group of fellow musicians into a FF metal band we've dubbed "Knights of the Round". Other composers I enjoy included: Francisco Tarrega, J.S. Bach, and Floggin' Molly.
3. I would like to join the Musicians Guild more or less to add articles about music that I like and to have some fellowship with musicians around the world. Hootoo rox!

1. What instrument(s) do you play, or want to play? Do you sing?
2. Do you have a favorite composer, musical artist, band, or music genre?
3. Is there anything in particular you would like from the Musicians Guild?
1. I currently play tenor trombone however I really want to get my hands on a alto trombone. Of course I am only in high school and lack the funds to even improve my tenor trombone on it's own, let alone get an additional trombone. I'd also like to start playing electric bass however fiddling around on my piano has made more than enough of a subsitute for my cravings to learn how to play bass.
2. Well currently my playlist contains bands/singers/artists/composers or the following variety: Duke Ellington, Barenaked Ladies, Jet, Weezer, Led Zeppelin, Arrogant Worms, The Beatles, Five Iron Frenzy, Queen, Wagner, Tchaikovsky. That's only skimming the surface as well. So picking a favourite genre, let alone musical player or composer of any sort is a task I can not complete.
3. A membership perhaps? Really I just find that this could be that perfect board where I will find musical appreciation and witty banter all rolled into one.

Hi fubarific
Welcome to the Guild - there are a fair few trombone players around here, so you'll fit right in (and you've got Queen on your 'favourites' list, which always helps )
Anyway, the membership badge is at A434648.

1.I can play the piano, although I don't play as often as I'd like to. I've passed Grade 4 Piano and Grade 5 Theory from the ABRSM (that's in the UK). I really do wish I could sing properly, or at least without causing offence...
2.I don't know why, but The Lightning Seeds. However, I listen to a lot of stuff - Led Zeppelin, Reef, Red Hot Chilli Peppers (but that's because my brother plays them constantly). It varies a lot, so that answer won't give you the whole picture.
3.I'd like to be a member, and generally converse with other musicians. It's nice to be able to talk to other musicians, or at least someone who doesn't think reading music is impossible.
