I dunno, KA, I've just googled it, and it seems to have it all: S&M, strip poker, lots and lots of drinking and a fair number of people jumping other peoples' bones.
There's also some pretty standard nymphs'n'shepherds playing hide and seek in the woods and meadows, but a lot more bawdy stuff in the middle as well.
It all sounds rather jolly.

It's definitely worth seeking out the English translation.
Although the words that he gets the children to sing is a mite disturbing:
Mea mecum ludit.......My virginity
virginitas,....................makes me frisky,
mea me detrudit........my simplicity
simplicitas...................holds me back.
(Soprano and Boys)
Oh, oh, oh,...................Oh! Oh! Oh!
totus floreo,.................I am bursting out all over!
iam amore virginali....I am burning all over with first love!

The way it was described to me was it was written by a load of monks who couldn't do any of those things. Or at least, they weren't supposed to...

Oh, and I'd forgotten how magical (and scary!) the soprano solos are. I remember wishing that I could be picked to do it - then I saw the music and realised why they'd got the professional in!

Needless to say, Carmina Burana was one piece we did *not* perform in Canterbury cathedral! It is all most naughty.

Dear me
>Those Persian carpets, they do get around
They fly, perhaps?
On a completely other note, please tell me I just didn't type in an internal company instant messaging conversation....

Haven't sung CB, but hav played it. I the Royal Albert Hall too. That was the same concert that I was broadcast on the radio making a hash of finding a harmonic (high screeching). Which may have actualy been in CB but I can't remember.
Apologies for those who have heard that story before. I don't have many claims to fame. Last time I told in in RL was to one of my courses. And one of the trainees came back and said. 'You know my brother. He used to play in the same orchestra as you'.
He he. In other music news, the choir I used to belong to is singing Bach's St John's Passion for their Easter concert... and so is the other local choir. Oooops.
Ben is lovely.
Glad to hear the dancing is going well, David.

Oh yes, and very jealous of your carpets Santra. Russians tend to have some nice ones around the house, not proper Persian perhaps, but from the Former States Down That Way. They have them on the walls though, notthe floor as a rule, so there's always that option if you feel like aquiring more.

And then for those in the UK of a certain vintage, the crescendo from O Fortuna will be associated with surfers and a certain brand of aftershave

From Titania's link:
>> Genetically, Finns have more in common with, for example, the Dutch or Russians living in the area of Murom, to the east of Moscow, than with our linguistic relations, the Hungarians.
Now *that's* a surprise.

Lil, just magic! The kangaroo shrieked with delight and has headed off to persuade her brother to get out the bath and come and see.....anticipating getting dripped on shortly
Over by Norway today and flew over Stavanger. Looks worth a visit. Loved seeing all the bridges connecting the small islands nearby. We had press and TV peeps with us today. Three out of four kept their stomach contents out of a sickbag
*Adding greetings to new arrivals - and wondering the chances of a tummy rub*
