Thank goodness my migraines aren't triggered by food, because it sounds like said food is all the uttery delicious stuff I love--cheese, chocolate, red wine.
It sounds like Teh Blak Kitteh is more snuggly at your house, Mags. I was under the impression he was shy at Ben's. Or was he affectionate? I mean, a request for a tummy rub--that's trust right there.

Hi all! I'm alive, if a bit toasty. Two full days of DisneylandÉdang, I think I OD'd on sun! But we had a blast, and I'm off again!

Suffering a bout of mid afternoon lack of energy/depression I just typed 'Ethel the Aardvark goes quantity surveying' into gooogle.
Don't ask me why it just came to me and I wanted (more out of boredom) to see what came back.
One site had the sketch and now i've read it I feel better, though still bored. Think it's lifted my mood.
Odd, what a randonm thought and the WWW can achieve!
Perhaps we all need something to take our mind off reality every now and then.

R4!
Oh, good to meet you for the first time, and under such jovial circumstances. Thanks ever-so-much for pointing out 'Ethel the Aardvark goes quantity surveying'; I'd never seen the skit or read the script before today. What a hoot!
It lifted my mood, as well. Thanks for the recommendation. It's a delight to find such nonsensical fol-de-rol available to entertain and amuse, on a day when practicing mechanical level controller alignments just isn't appealing.

Wait for it... Wait for it... It's over 4MB, so decide in advance if it's worth hanging about for hours while your dial-up downloads this PDF.
So... I've spent the last two days [count them, 2 DAYS] trying to sort out how this works. I've had the help of one of my co-workers (BZ), who had some ideas, and we both pottered around with it. Seems we didn't have it all sorted, so we asked our Instructor for guidance. Not much help and a few "how did you bugger this up so bad" comments and we decided to go back to our own devices...and the manual. Still seems like Greek, but we're seeing ~most~ of the indications we should, keeping in mind it's a static mock-up, not a "live" process in the Nuclear Plant.
We simply must remember NOT to touch the Orange Button.

Good to hear that teh Blak Kitteh is settling in well chez Mags.
Different spelling, mini - but a scaffie, in Doric, is a binman or collector of rubbish. I suppose it might come from "scavenger"?

Eatsmice Posted Mar 17, 2010
Scaffie or scaffy - I don't think I saw it spelt - was a phrase in Glasgow for rubbish when I was a kid mini (only a couple of years ago). Scaffy-bags out for the binmen (environmental waste transfer consultants).
I've heard the phrase up here too, but that was before the wheely-bin made its appearance.
The Duke of Edinburgh was at work today for a parade. Managed to keep out of the way for the day, more hours in the classroom. Then it was chainsaw time

Hmm, fair enough. So maybe I didn't make the word up never heard it, I think I said it by accident one time and I liked it so it stuck.
In other news Journal articles are EVIL! trying to find the hypothesis in amongst all the technobabble isn't easy and all I need is a d@mn summary of who it was what they did what they found and how it relates to my study. All that info should be in the abstract, never is though.

FG said, "Welcome back from the brink of BBC-icide, SC and Kerr!"
In my case, I had made it through the eye of the needle, but for some reason, it turned out that my browser, Google Chrome, was no longer welcome by the Beeb. The other 3 browsers I have on board work fine, but GC just gives me the "Complete your registration link, which doesn't work when clicked. It took me a couple of days to figure out it was browser specific, so I'm not too bright I guess.

It may not be that, SC. I was locked out for a time. I had to log out completely, then log back in again. I think it was because the computer remembered me but parts of the BBC site didn't, so it got confused and the links stopped working.
Give it a whirl - you might find you can use Chrome after all.

I can't get in from IE on my work laptop - I get the same Complete your Registration link. I tried deleting my bbc cookies but it still leaves me half-logged in and I can't see any buttons for logging out anywhere
Ag, so sorry to hear that something about your troublesome innards is not treatable

Welcome r4registry
>I am so scary
Well, I'd go so far as to say I just might think twice before offering myself for tummy rubbing
Busy, busy, busy with preparing, arranging, scheduling and what have you for the weekend's scouting. Just realised that I'm the camp boss for the thing once we get there
At tonights meeting, the scouts that are coming made some rather bows. The arrows were not quite finished - there's some homework (or late, late Friday night work) for some of them.

Welcome R4 (where are my manners?) I'm sure I've seen you around before, assumed it was here .
>You're downright scary, you are Ben.<
I've met the lady, I can confirm there is nothing scary about her, she's lovely
>I just might think twice before offering myself for tummy rubbing<
You've never had a special Mags tummy rubbing after using the litter tray
Teebs (as he's currently known - will probably stay) is doing fine. Need to find my battery charger, piccies need taking.
