I personally think of Corona as one step below Bud, but that's just me. I don't really care for it. Give me a nice Belgian Blonde any time, and I'm happy. Although it turns out none of our vendors carry my favorite beer, and I was so looking forward to a Weinstephaner Doppelweiss! Although Lagunitas Equinox isn't far behind....
Okay, I admit it. I'm a beer snob.

Witty, whatever card you get, it has to be able to support something called OpenGL. The version native to Microsoft isn't good enough, I found out the hard way when I first installed Mojoworld. The Tadeon 8500 (which I have) does do this.
Caer, isn't the name Imperator something? Ferrari will be jealous.
*reaches for the chicken, which has been removed from the grill as it cooked, and pours off a little condiment dish of satay sauce*
Ampton? If you're concerned about Affi, get another bot up here to help us buttle, and go. Send up Number Eleven, as we've gotten to know him. And be careful out there!

Maybe most European countries are joke worthy, but I don't like to joke aobut the Serbians... I like all my limbs attached to my body.

Thanks all. He knew about the OpenGL thingy. He's gotten over the sticker shock and it looks like we're going to get an ATI Radeon 9700. He says if we're going to upgrade, we might as well go with the best.

Just Imperator, Lil, in the publicity blurb. But I expect he has a stable name as long as my arm, a very handsome horse indeed.
Witty, No2 son agrees that that is the best video card, his is Radeon 9500 Pro, which was the fastest until the 9700 came out. He has gone slightly with envy

WM, that is more or less what I say. Always get the best you can and it will be that much longer before you have to upgrade. I bought my Radeon when it was the top of the line and bleeding edge. That was well over a year ago. Had I not stepped up to the best card poccilbe then, I would have already had to upgrade.

Amy, this sauce is delicious!
Has anybody brought cheesecake?

Where did that swan come from?
Sorry, slight change of subject. There's a thread about Collaborative Topics here F55683?thread=280382 and a related thread here F19585?thread=280737 in which someone has started a thread in Askh2g2 repeating the Collaborative Topic of the week blurb (but not actually mentioning that it is the CTotW). Those of you interested in how the h2g2 community collaborates might want to join in.

I am more interested in the schism that seems to be forming in the community. I fear I shall be first up against the wall, as the saying goes, when the revolution comes, for having forsaken the rather conformist attitude being shown in that first link. Everything must be treated exactly the same, they say, or it's all wrong.
*helps Marv rotate the souvlaki kebabs* I won't be made to feel guilty or ashamed because of my liking for virtual reality. Is it not sufficient that I can tell the difference between it and the real thing beyond the monitor?
All this talk of food has ruined me. I need to go get a bowl of orange sherbert, be right back.

Yes, Lil. The same strange logic is being used in other arguments. It runs thusly. If the Italics deviate from the stated rules at all then they must *always* deviate from the rules.
Hence, because the Italics commissioned artwork for an EG article from Dr Justin but failed to notice that Dr Justin was also the author of the article, they must now allow all authors to illustrate their own articles.
If any EG article is found to contain a fictional element, fiction must be allowed in the Edited Guide.
Since articles based on Collaborative Topic titles can never be comprehensive, the requirement for other EG articles to be comprehensive should be removed from the Writing Guidelines.
I could go on. The world has gone mad.

They all seem terribly lacking in a sense of humor. At least in the soapbox-y threads, they take offense so easily that one knows there's no humor there.

Okay,I'm back from a trip to Best Buy and Circuit City. They were both out of the ATI Radeon 9700, so we got the All-in-Wonder 9700, which includes a TV tuner, too. We decided that will be Hubby's Fathers Day present. He's been wanting one for years. He promised he would archive all our home videos, too. That means someone will be getting a dvd burner eventually.
Marv, don't over cook the fish!
