I am trying to figure out why I have divergent tastes in beer. For the most part I want either a Corona (done my special way(and my bar staff knows my way well, often having my beer ready before I can make it to the bar upon walking in (tip well and respect your bar staff, especially at my club)) with some Rose's lime juice added to the bottle before imbibing) or something in the Stout variety. One is a pale lager of distinct taste, made in Mexico (soon to be made in Idaho ). The other is often made in Ireland sporting the name Murphy's or Guiness. Amber ales make me ill. Budweiser is to be drunk only in the case of no other possible way to get beer when you really need one. The tripe that the room mates drink? Never. Natural Light is an abomination against the liquid bread that I so enjoy.
When I was in Idaho for the wedding I was treated to Old Peculiar and Corona exclusivly. It was nice to be surrounded by real beer .
On another note, I am making certain progress in familiarising myself with my friend who is transgendered. Today we went walking in teh park, so she could get some sun and get out in public a bit more. It was far less uncomfortable than the first time we went somewhere together. I hope that she can tell her family and friends about the situation soon, so she can transition to full time woman. That will be easier for all of us in the long run, as I won't be seeing her as both male and female regularly. The difference tends to create a certain confusion in my mind.
I actually kind of like a veggie burger now and again. They are tasty enough and some times I get more than enough meat in my diet.

I've just been to inspect my country estate (Temple Newsam). I had a lovely walk through the woods. I'm pleased to be able to report that the rhodies are holding up but i must have a word with the gardener about the rose beds. They're very scruffy around the edges. Shocking.

Marv, your sauce is wonderful.
Speaking of veggie burgers, I have started a variety of eggplant that is supposed to taste just like portabellos when you grill them. We'll see. Grilled veggies are wonderful. And super easy. Put a variety of them on a whole grain bun and you have some mighty tasty health food. *dodges *
Finding whole grain bread is really tough in my parts. We have a St. Louis Bread Company in Joplin, and they have it if you don't mind paying an exorbitant price. So..........since I didn't buy myself anything for my birthday, I'm going to go get a bread machine and make my own. Caer isn't going to be the only one with home baked bread.
It's finally stopped raining. Yea!!!!!!!!!!

I guess one advantage of living in a densely populated area is that you can pretty much find whatever you like, no matter how exotic.
*Helps herself to several slices of london broil, chooses a nice roll and makes a sandwich. Tries Marv's Corona with Roses. *
Lil, of course Sort is a CLI bot! Affy whipped him up when I needly some extra help at the 24-Seven. He's modeled after the robot Gort from "The Day the Earth Stood Still". He must be getting bored, I've never seen him wearing as ascot.
*Keeps an eye on Sort.*

Speaking of bots - have we ever seen an image of Chloe? I can't remember if Lil has made one - but in my mind she looks a bit like R2D2 - short and chubby, sort of...

Ah, if he's a CLI bot, then there is always the danger of them getting bored. What sort of extra-curricular activities do you think he might like?
It's true, I have never done a picture of Chloe, and I really ought to. Titania, you're right, she's small, and she has that key sticking out of her back, as she's self-winding.
If anyone would like to read a really interesting article about programming and art, here is one: http://www.paulgraham.com/hp.html .
I reckon I'll wait for the chicken to finish cooking before I have seconds.

Marv! Is that a secret recipe for the london broil or can I get you to share it with me?
Okay, resident s, I have a question for you. Hubby and I picked up a copy the Enter the Matix game, pc version. It turns out our video card doesn't meet minimum requirements. We are currently using a Nvidia RIVA TNT2 with the lastest driver available and DirectX 9. The specs call for Nvidia GeForce 256/ATI Radeon 8500. Since we have to upgrade, I'm looking for recommendations. Please respond in non- language.

I'm not sure what Sort does in his spare time. There is a rift in the aisle where the magazines and paperback books are in the store. From time to time I see him disappear down there.
I've never had the nerve to follow him.
*Thinks*
I wonder if he would like to explore the fFordeian Rift.

I have got nVidia Ge-Force 4 which is pretty nifty, No2 son has a Radon one, which I know he would recommend as it's faster to load than mine.
Just got back from the Surrey County Show, which was good fun and the lovely weather helped too. There was a Wild West theme, with Gerard Napous and his Devils on Horseback stunt team, they do a lot of film and tv work. Their demonstration included stunt riding and a stagecoach hold up. Their horse is Imperator who is the huge black stallion in the Lloyd's TSB adverts. The Wildwest Appreciation Society also had a display of a settler's camp including a chuck wagon with a camp kitchen on it.
We did a tour of the ground, including the rural crafts tent, and cattle lines and watched a demonstration of hawks.
I bake a loaf on alternate days, Hypatia and in spite of the supermarket having just about every available type of bread, I rarely buy a loaf now. There is one in the breadmaker as I type, on it's final proving before baking.

I would say to look for either a G-Force 4 Ti with at least 128 MB RAM or a Radeon 8500 or higher, also with 128MB RAM. Look in your local geek-shop or online. You will get much better prices online. I used a first gen Radeon in my machine, but I am thinking of an upgrade.

Marv, this fish is great. And I agree, Corona is always best when served with lime, though I've always squeezed a slice of lime directly in, never used lime juice. I'll have to try that.
It's so nice to have a place like this to come to when questions must be answered I'll probably be in the market for a new computer this time next year: I'm planning on graduating college next spring and off to law school. It wouldn't do to go through three years of law school with the computer I have now... an iMac that is about as old as this website: I got it the summer I graduated highschool, back in 1999. I'll be looking for advice then.

Well, I have spent today putting together an application for a job I would dearly love in Scotland. The disproportion is amazing. I spend - what - four or five hours honing my CV, and whoever reads it will make a decision on whether or not to take it fiurther in about 50 second flat...

IRL, at the family barbeque we had a called "Polish Margaritas"--its new to the family and involves a margarita with a floater of brandy, in addition to the tequila, triple sec, lime juice and margarita mix. Suprisingly, its rather tasty and smooth!
My annual driver's arm summer tan is underway. While I am driving my left arm perches on the window (remember, we drive on the other side of the road here) and winds up about 3 shades darker than the rest of me.

BTW, don't ask me why they're "Polish". I assume its because we're German and more than happy to poke someone in the eye. It's not much of a slur, considering how good they are.

I'm more or less a Politically Correct individual, but I think it's interesting to keep track of what nationalities are deemed "appropriate" or "inappropriate" to make jokes about in our society. Here's what I've figgured out. The first list is of nationalities that at one time or another were commonly made the punchlines of jokes. Today, people would take offense. The second list is nationalities that are okay to make fun of.
Nationalities it is no longer okay to insult:
Polish
Mexican
Japanese
Chinese
Russian
Indian
Pakistani
Anything Arabic
Anything Oriental
Isreali
Palestinian
Nationalities it is still okay to insult:
America
England
Canada
France
Okay, so a Yankee, a Limey, a Canuck and a Frog walk into a bar...

I'd say it'd be OK to joke about most European nationalities... except, from a European kind of view maybe not the Eastern Europe ones, the ones that used to be behind the Iron Curtain - not in the old days, at least, because one would feel sorry for them... but on the other hand, I think I've come across jokes about their adjustment to the 'western' type of lifestyle... hmmmm...
...in general I'd say that most European nationalities have jokes about most of the other European nationalities - it's a tradition! 'There was a Swede, a Dane and a Norwegian...' or maybe 'There was a German, a Frenchman and Bellman' (Swedish poet/troubadour who lived in the 18th century, no idea why he keeps popping up in jokes)
