You are Mike McShane and I claim my five pounds.

Rod, re. post 75 - yes. Hair, nails, and bones grow slower when your body has a fight for survival at its hands, be it injury, malnourishment or any sickness.
And once I´m blabbering - hair growing after death is a myth. The hair doesn´t grow, the skin loses moisture and shrinks.

Sounds reasonable, Pit.
I've also noticed that body hair - at least lower stomach - is a lot slower than beard to regrow.
Several weeks after an inguinal hernia op, half my bush is still disappointingly less than macho.

Expensive? In insurance, yes... but the shaving was cheap, she wouldn't so I had to do it myself.

Hmmmm. Still - a nurse is a nurse, got a thing about them somehow.
I could have met some without tieing motorsickles into knots, but as the insurance was paying the bill...

I'd rather be Ian McShane. Then I would have at least had this scene with Suzanne Pleshett: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTx7EEm1tt0
When I was seven years old. 14 years before I actually got to Rome.
Actually, watching that clip again, light has suddenly been shed on some experiences during that Italian summer.

Right then . . .
Six months to the day and it's coming off tomorrow.
I did a quick measure just now and it seems to be about 3.25 inches. The moustache is shorter, probably due to wearing at the ends during eating.
I've noticed an unfamiliar annoyance while driving with the window down: my side burns flap in my eyes.
Now, cover your eyes if you frighten easily:

That's a wonderful beard. Was either the growing or the shaving off for charity or just to keep warm in the Canadian winter?

None of the above.
I normally just let it all grow and then about once a month I mow it all down to ground level. As fortune would have it, I did the mowing on New Year's Day, right around when this thread started up and I figured I'd just take advantage of the easy to remember date and see how fast the thing grew. I had planned to mow at four months, but that date kind of slipped by, so I figured I'd go for six. I haven't actually taken it off yet . . .
If I comb it very carefully, it has quite a Darwinian look about it.

This experiment has ended: six months' growth removed in about ten minutes.
It feels kind of good.
Maybe I'll do it again in January.

I haven't actually shaved in probably thirty years.
I just use these barber-like electric clipper things over the whole cranium and both mandibles whenever eating soup becomes too much of a strain.()
This is the first time I've kept track of the speed of growth. Based on the results, I don't think I've gone more than three months without a mow before.
As it is, I have no date in mind for the next cutting, but it certainly won't be within the next week and `probably not before August.

"Just cut off some 10 cm last week, about 2 liter in a bucket. (Hair that is)
If I had known this thread, I would have measured some more.
(Still 3 cm left) "
