What's the brie of spiders?
anhaga Posted Feb 21, 2011
I figured it was time for an update.
You may remember that I shaved my entire head clean on the first of the year. Today, February 20th, I would gauge my beard hair at an inch and change. Interestingly, my moustache looks to be about a quarter inch shorter, as is the (thin) hair up top.
The moustache still has a bit of a trimmed appearance, although it has not been trimmed. The rest is starting to look a little shaggy.
So, it would seem that my beard is still holding to about a quarter inch a week, although other patches seem to be slower.

""the "chin beard" competion. What other sort of beard is there?""
Well, this brought to mind an awkward moment that I had over the last week.
My daughter has just opened her own hair salon. As I was perusing the price list, I spotted an item that I was not familiar with. It took a while for me to pluck up the courage to ask her what it was.
I now know what a "Brazilian Blow Dry" is.

Re: the "chin beard" - the German for moustache is literally "string beard" (Schnurrbart). I guess that's the other kind of beard you could have.

There's also the Nicole Kidman type of beard. I understand that's very popular in Hollywood.

It's also very popular in Cheshire; I'd love to have that type of beard warming *my* face up.

Is there enough of it to keep your face warm?

So, within a day or two of three months since shaving:
moustache about an inch and a quarter
chin beard about an inch and a quarter
side burn area over an inch and a half
I think the growth may be slowing down.

Does beard growth slow down while you're recovering from a non-trivial injury?

I mean, apart from that injury you've done to your face, anhaga.

Anyone still about?
It's been four and a half months now and I've still not got around to trimming this stuff.
Anyhoo, I took a bit of a mug shot at the four month mark (with suitably old fashioned anomynizing). Unfortunately, I didn't measure at the four month point. I'll try to remember to measure before I actually get cutting.
The mug shot is available (for the moment) here: http://public.fotki.com/anhaga/fun_stuff/the-speed-of-beard.html
And it's continued to grow for two more weeks since then. I'll leave that to your imaginations.
