do guys prefere curvey girls or no curves?
thidwick - the satron paint of spoonerisms Posted Jun 7, 2005
Listen up... voice of experience incoming....
Girls lying down are best observed when significantly curvy. Girls sitting should be quite curvy.... and when standing should have just enough curves.
Best get one of each.
Clear now?

"Girls sitting should be quite curvy"
I'm curvy, but mainly because I'm too lazy to sit up straight and my shoulders are curving downwards
I'm a stoopy girl

Stoopy girls are probably OK... so long as they like beer.

Don't do yourself down. I'm sure there are appropriate apprenticeships available to learn the ancient craft of beer-liking. Ultimately, sufficient beer not only helps the curves, but also helps with the lying down.
(When I drink enough beer, I find lying down quite therapeutic, and then most things look curved anyway.... even when they aren't.)
Are we off-topic?
I bet Kylie Minogue doesn't like beer. How would I find out?

I think there is a lot of truth in what you say. I read a piece of chinese erotica somewhere which says that large women feel better but thin women look better.

Dawn French once said something along the lines of... "What happens to boobs when you lie down? They disappear, I found one in my shoe once..."

....now Dawn French .... (sigh) ... she could lie down two or three times, and still look good.

Well, those old "Leaning beauty" paintings seems to usually feature curvy women.

A lot of the old paintings of nudes portrayed what would today be considered the 'larger lady' for a few reasons. (1) social attitudes to weight and size were very different. A little extra meat on the bones indicated that the person was well to do, and could afford to eat well and have a lackey do all the running around for one, which leads nicely on to (2). It was mainly the well to do that could afford to have a portrait done. Often the portraits were commissioned by the husband, who would hang a nude of his wife in his private rooms, where he'd often have his mates over to discuss her charms. In effect the painting was a trophy, and the chap was probably a chauvanist pig by todays standards. In those days, though, the lady concerned proabably didn't mind too much, and would certianly have been under no illusions.
And finally (3), which is pretty unromantic, but definately true: a lot of the masters (Titian springs to mind) just loved painting flesh. He was good at it, and he liked a challenge. It's technically much easier to realistically portray a sleek, trim form, than one with flowing curves and boucy bits. It was a challenge and far more enjoyable to paint, and to this day you're more likely to get a realistic body to paint in a lifeclass than a size 8 model. Look at any artist's portrayal of Bacchus (a lot of artists have painted him, largely because he's loads of fun to paint, and because he is a bone fide mythical figure, he's fair game) for an indication of how far this goes. Bacchus ranges in paintings from someone who just looks a bit happy to full-on Jabba the Hutt naked blobbiness

The Psycho Chicken,
Are you sure about point 3 there? When I used to go to lifeclasses, I found that the opposite was true; fleshy people were technically far easier to draw than the slimmer models --- and the rest of the class seemed to agree, as did my art teacher at the time.

yes to curvy girls! also going into more detail i dont like girls who put loads of make up on, dress to conciously, well to cut it short high maintainence. i like girls who dont care what people think about them. definately personality over looks, dont believe me? fine.

Well each to their own strengths WD but I find it easier to accurately accurately draw a smooth trim figure than one with more *ahem* features....
Titian definately enjoyed painting flesh, and the more of it there was, the happier he was.

In Art classes i found curvier girls were easier to draw in outline, because my pencil/charcoal lines tend to naturally arch.
But i found them harder to shade, especially in colour with paint. Because the shadows and highlights are alot more subtle. Where as more angular women tend to to have more definate patches of light and shade.

Well - I found the larger person more 'interesting' to draw in any case --- and it always gave you an appreciation of what lay beneath the skin: fat, tendons, muscles, the skeleton etc.
Damn --- I miss lifeclasses.

My fiance is investigating things to do for his stag night - one company was offering a lifedrawing class. I thought this was rather civilised until I read on a bit and discovered that it was situated in a strip club and the stag with the best drawing got a free lapdance

fatkelli,
He could always do a Feynmann --- he used to sketch in gogo dancing clubs, but he didn't sketch the girls --- oh no.
He sketched the expressions of the punters in the crowd.
