h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

H2g2 is going down the toilet, EV has left due to mitigating circumstances and I'm sorry to see him go, I enjoyed chatting to him about F1, a few of the ACE's have behaved in a very un Ace-like way and after reading one posting I felt ashamed I was ever involved with them. As I read somewhere while I was lurking Douglas Adams must be up there wondering what the hell has gone wrong with his site. In the 3 years I've been here this is the lowest I've ever felt and there have been quite a few low points, there are more rows breaking out than friendly chats, so many threads have decended into name calling and hair pulling, where did it all go wrong.
I am so sorry to see h2g2 decend into this pit that it doesn't seem to want to climb out of, I don't want to leave as I'd miss all my friends but if it keeps sinking the way it does I think a sabbatical to Gateworld may be inevitable

Tell ya what, Lady. Feeling about the same as you, despite less than 2 years here, ... If you feel you are dropping into a pit along with h2g2, just grab my hand. It's always here and willing.

I too hate the nit picking name calling Coral, especialy when "they" pick on a good friend, like you say, there is no need for it.

Sadly, Reef, this is all completely out of scale. The ACES are being blamed even though, while they may have lost their tempers, they are not completely in the wrong. Its sad that EV resorted to 'going off in a strop', which is whats happened in my opinion, but that doesnt make me want to go back and make everything the way he wants it

it's not that Jack, I saw an ACE's responce somewhere that was jaw dropping and I have seen other ACE's behave in a manner that made me sorry that I ever associated myself with the scheme. Ace's are supposed to be the voice of reason, there are ACE's on both sides of this trouble, it does no good for the scheme if Newbies see ACE's at eachothers throats

I'm not going to say too much more on the matter for fear of sparking another huge debate. All I can say is I'm extremely dissapointed with people I thought had more brains

You see it's happening here, I didn't want a debate or a who's right or who's wrong, all I wanted to do was point out that h2 is going down the pan at a rate of knots.

I spent a long time trying to convince myself that it was actually getting better, oh boy was I wrong, even a simple journal entry about the sad demise of h2g2 can promote conflict.

Can I unsubscribe from my own Journal Entry?

I too am sad that EV has gone, he was one of my first mentors when I came into hootoo.. *sigh*

If you truly wish to unsub from you own Journal, you can delete it.. but as you know it will remain here, and possibly become an area where others will continue the debate.

hey hey, whats all this, if h2 is going down (which i have thought and talked about for months now) then rather than listen to the Voices of reason (ACES) we should do something about i thionk we should Dumb-up instead of Dumb-down! I have never been board on h2 ever till about 3 months ago when we had all the dross heaped into this site, like all the footy stuff, not that i'm saying footy stuff is bad but its not for here, this site! And as a result we have to deal with people who know the off side rule, backwards, i don't really want to know about that rule, but i do care that when someone whants to use this site (they) should be able to have a convo with anyone one here who wants to have a chat back, and not be yikes for the mear fact they are talking about something which someone esle thinks is bad (trying to be adult here which is a first), come on hootoo'ers lets make a stand for life/love/and towels and make this place a warmer place than it is now, also we are unable this time to use the toilet on the third floor as its blocked.... anyone out there got a plunger of plummer ???

Not particularly, my favourite internet site is destroying itself from the inside and giving the BBC more than enough incentive to close it down. The people on this site don't seem to care that respected members are leaving in droves because of the shift in attitudes and witchunts that seem to have broken out all over the place.

I know what you mean tho bout the way people drag things down, the YooChat service on cable that recently closed down had so many people back stabbing, starting arguments etc in the end it was just no fun using anymore!

At least I've got Gateworld to go to when this place bites the dust
