Its a spell in D&D you need a 40000gp gem for. It can be used against anything and may or may not work (they get a will save). If this is a lich, its probebly got a high one of those so you may want to hit it with a few wisdom effecting things first.

Oh!
Well see, it doesn't exist in SoA, which is what I was talking about...
I've still never used it but now I know what you're talking about.

Ah I see. This is a problem. Its my second favouirte spell from D&D, its useful if you are going up against anything really tough in the phyisical sense.

~Quotes From the Past~
"Obviously imprisonment is *much* worse than maze!
the way to defeat a demilich:
requires:
1 staff of the magi
1 crom faeyr
Any other +4 or higher weapons... (or is it +5)
First:
Cast deathward on everybody to protect from the demilich's howl.
Have your mage go in with spell trap and protection from abjuration and spell reflection and antyhing else that will prevent an imprisonment.
Once she's being fired at, send everyone else in.
Give at least 2 freedom scrolls to every magi, and to your main character.
Everyone attacks, some peopel will be used as bait for the imprisonments.
Repeat 20 times until you finally win.
Notes: The staff of the magi, the most powerful staff in the game, is found in the room in the bridge district taht requires a rogue stone to enter. (also very difficult)
This refers to the demilich in Watcher's keep in ToB.
Khangaxx is much harder. Why? Because during the time it takes for your character to get from the entrance up clsoe enough to melee with him, at least 5 imprisonments have already been fired.
Be afraid, patient, and persistent. It IS possible, contrary to the views you mae take after the first 10 tries. I've killed them both.
Khangaxx is also much harder because you have to kill him as a lich first, and then he immediately becomes a demilich... without giving you time to run."
Or, just stand there with the Cloak of Mirroring and laugh as he kills himself.
"How to kill an the adamantine golem in Firkraag's lair in chapter 2 or 3:
Requires:
preferably the cloak of the stars(from the sun temple)
Definitely the throwing axe you can buy at the inn... I think it's plus four? Or do you get that at Nalia's keep? don't remember.
Just get your best fighter throwing that at it. keep everyone else back (be sure to kill the other goelms first. remember, he can't fit through the doorway, so jsut get out of range of attacks and gas clouds, and throw anything you've got at him. wait."
I must admit that this better than what I was doing, but the basic plan is the same. Kill him while you're out of range. This will actually work on every Adamantine Golem in the game (excluding Suldanesselar), if you lure them back far enough.
About this spell, Trap the Soul, does it actually trap the monster in a sort of limbo, or does it just kill them?

It traps their soul in your gem.
But once your in Suldanesselar you can kill an adamantine golem by running up to it in melee... they aren't so ahrd ass they are in Chapter 3!
The cloak of mirroring won't do anything to teh lich, its immune to magic. however, thats the part of the plan I had forgotten... give your fighter the cloak so he won't be imprisoned... or a mage(that'd probably be better)

Yeah, you can then say transport the gem to say the Lawful Good plain, or somewhere equally nasty depeding on the cretures alingment. Also putting a dimensional anchor on it when its over there might be a nice Idea. Don't whatever you do, break the gem.

Darakat, I was just wondering, if Trap the Soul is your second favorite spell, what's your first favorite spell?

Just finished Neverwinter Nights. Nice graphics and such, but the storyline is a little bland... and I don't like not being able to travel from area to area or go back to places freely. The toolset is glorious though... although it could use a manual. What could have possessed the folks at Bioware to publish such a complicated program without including any help system or information?

I hated NWN. Toolset sucks: Not nearly nearly nearly enough options. I got so ******** tired of seeing the same buildings and terrain for the whole game. A hill is a *mound* not layer cliffs!
-Plot sucked
-subplots sucked
-slow
-extremely tedious
-Bad animation for some of the creatures(naemly the dragons and fire giants)
In other words, way to much liek my feeble DnD adventures.
The Temple of Elemental Evil sucks too.(brand new game)

Actually, at least *some* versions came with a manual because I've got one. about two feet away from me in my desk here.

THe plots sucked not because I genuinely didn't liek them but because I got so bored in the beginning I stopped paying attention.
Also, it takes far to long to travel anywhere.
-animation for forest bad
-even worse: you have to leave areas via a door! what's wrong with Baldur's Gate's Wagon Wheel thingy?

Time Stop is probably my favorite spell.
Shapechange kills, too...
Favorite feat- Automatic Quicken Spell(epic), I think.
