I've heard people refer to the Throne of Bhaal, the expansion on Baldur's Gate II, as Baldur's Gate III, even though it isn't a new world or game as such but rather an expansion pack for the old world, it still has a new storyline and enough changes to really qualify as a sequel. So maybe that's what they were talking about.

'Fraid not, the levels of their characters were way above the expierence cap., so unless every single one of them had gotten a remover...

BG III doesn't exist and isn't likely to since Black Isle is now set on basing future games on the Fallout engine, as in Lionheart. There will be no more BG series games
Anyone played Lionheart yet? My PC is too slow to play it.

I don't know what the Fallout engine is, or how it's different...
of course there's no more games, anything passed level 40, where ToB already is, is really absurd... 40 isn't exactly sane either but its supposrted by abilities and challenges well...

Fallout is an RPG, it looks very different to BG, I don't think the graphics are nearly as pretty.
I still haven't completed ToB, but that is because my PC now seems to think that I'm playing with copied discs . Hopefully the game files are not corrupted so that when I get a new machine I can copy them over.
I have had a go at Morrowind recently, but have found it slow going and couldn't work out where I was meant to be going.

when playing SoA did you ever find the mysterious door in the Docks that takes you to the room with a lich, a vampire, a hive mother(beholder), and swordsmen, and some other weird thigns in a pink room, small, and you can't get out without the eye of the hive mother?
In my opinion thats about in the top-4 hardest non-ToB battles in the game.
The first time playing the game I didn't even find it...
Did you?

How similar to BG are the Neverwinter Nights etc. games? They seem based on the same world.

It is the same engine, but Neverwinter Nights is prettier and you don't have party. I haven't finished that one either
Dungeon Siege is the prettiest of all, but it is more of a hack and slash, like Diablo. But you do have a party and a mule too.
No1 son has played SoA, ToB and the original BG on XP, no problems but Iexpect he checked for patches before playing.

Wow, this place has heated up really fast, hasn't it? (Thank you newcomers!...)
Right one general comment first (and this is the third time I've said it so maybe you guys will listen now): The alleged "Baldurs Gate 3", which may or may not exist, is "unofficial" which means it's not produced by Bioware so stop saying they aren't going to make one because I would agree with you anyway.
AK-About your CDs, there's a thing called a SkipDr. (Skip Doctor) that repairs scratches, abrasions, and fingerprints on CDs. They're sold in computer stores (in the U.S. anyway) and I highly recommend them.
Oh, and I did find the Devil's Room with Lich Man and his minions. But I had my main character (The Devil's Fighter) do most of the work because she's practically invulnerable to mages and there were only, like, two warriors in the room so it wasn't that bad.
Moving on...
Caerwynn does your computer actually say it thinks they're fake? Or can it just not read them?

I liekd Baldur's Gate a lot better than neverwinter nights.
the problem with NW is that it uses the same graphics over and over, and such, and they get repetitive. Also they don't have as many subplots... and considering that everything can be altered a lot, even still, the graphics just get really repetitive. its boring.
is SkipDr. a little spray majig? cause I've used one thign thats supposed to fix scratches. I put it in but it wouldn't get by the opening screen that has the music. the on where you click install, or play, or such... However I'm considering buying a new copy and hoping it'll work.

I'm a founder member of the RPG club, with Titiania as the Founder, not a newcomer.
My PC says something along the lines of 'Insert the original disc' with me yelling 'I ~have~ inserted the orginal disc'.
My first disk is partitioned and in order to make room for some new software, the partition was widened and I think that is where BG got corrupted.
I expect it is just a case of saving the game files on CD rom/zip drive and unistalling all BG files and reinstalling everything. But I am waiting to see if brings me a new PC before I get No2 son to build me a new one. Then I shall be back to gaming again.

If you used SkipDr. properly then there are still three reasons why this would be the case.
A. If you don't use the first CD, or the expansion CD then it won't get to the screen anyway.
B. Sometimes the CD is in such bad shape that you need to do it two or three times before it runs again.
C. You're CD is cracked somewhere making it impossible for the computer to read it; at which point you pray to whatever gods you beleive in or, failing that, get a freind who also has the game to burn a copy of said broken disc for you (that's what I had to do for my fourth Baldur's Gate CD).

(Irritated) I know that, I was talking about the four guys who showed up out of nowhere last week and Rivaine just before them.

Would you mind explaining what "partitioned" means?
