Le Guide Galactique
I bought someone a copy in French last year as a xmas prezzie. French bloke with a sense of humour. He and his family lapped it up and bought the rest themselves!

Isn't it something like 'Le Guide de la Galaxie de Auto-Stoppeur/Auto-Stoppeuse'?

ok, i've got a good one for you, where you can use your 'cela':
"Merci. Je n'aime pas tellement cela."
"No thankyou. I'm not terribly keen on ratatouille."
obviously, the foodstuff in question depends on the situation, but you can't beat that for a polite get-out when faced with something you definitely *don't* wanna be eating!
Goes down better than 'Blurgh!' with the French housewife who is proudly serving up the dish she slaved over all afternoon, too.
