kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

You're resisting the urge to suggest a highly expensive and useless operation?

Jimcracker, pictures now only load intermittently on Plain Skin. IF you want to see pictures, switch to one of the official skins.

Ooooh, I hadn't noticed. I'm permanently on "Plain" (I use my own stylesheet) and I see all the front page pictures and pictures on most of the EG articles I look at. How long has there been a problem?

I'm getting a load of space-separators appearing in my URLs.

Yesterday it was full of long lists of %20

Happens whenever the Pop-up-conversation reloads or if I manually navigate with an LED blob or a 'next' button.

>>why are we getting Server Busy at 10.30pm and h2 seems to work ok during peak times?

The "Server Busy" message is not caused by the server being busy. It is caused by a problem on the server which they are trying to cure at the moment. The temporary fix they have is to keep restarting the server, but they can only do this during working hours (i.e. peak times). They can't do it at night because they're gone home. So we just have to put up with the message until they fix it.

Was trying to think what all this non-functioning interuption to normal service reminded me of:

-------------------

"Tell me," he continued, and said it so nervously that the others all turned to stare at him. He glanced at the approaching yellow blob on the screen.

"Tell me," he said again. "Did the computer say what was occupying it? I just ask out of interest."

Their eyes were riveted on him.

"And, er... well that's it really, just asking."

Zaphod put out a hand and held Arthur by the scruff of the neck.

"What have you done to it, Monkeyman?" he breathed.

"Well" said Arthur, "Nothing in fact. It's just I think that a short while ago it was trying to work out how to..."

"Yes?"

"Make some tea."

"That's right guys!" the computer sang out suddenly, "Just coping with that problem right now and wow, it's a biggy. Be with you in a little while."

----------

I propose we adopt the computers interjection as our new error message, rather than the burning clown or the inaccurate "server busy"
