I still have them on vinyl. I need to put them on CD so I can listen to them in the car (my record player keeps skipping while I drive).

For info - I managed to get a new, seal set of all the radio episodes on ebay for less than half the Amazon price.
But DON'T be tempted for the 2 CD MP3 version - read the reviews on Amazon - shocking quality.
But hearing Arthur's voice again reading lines I am familar with from the books, but only ever "heard" in my head, was quite spooky.
All this and the film - too much

Speaking of the MP3 version - I'd love to find out who was the genius in the BBC who came up with the idea of selling CDs of MP3s...
Not really an open invitation to pirate stuff at all!

Anybody who hasn't heard the first two series can stream them here, in decent quality:

2CDs of MP3 files? How much material is there?
BTW, I prefer making my own CDs from my vinyl LPs so I'm not even tempted.

Jim Lynn Posted Jun 25, 2004
You do know that the Vinyl LPs are actually a totally different recording to the original radio series? Not just an abridgement. That's the first appearance of Disaster Area, for one thing. And the records don't have the second series. So if you're a completist at all, you might want the CDs as well.

Yes, I knew that, but thanks for the info anyway.

Wasn't the name of the lead singer in Disaster Area that of an Islington estate agent?
FM (*still* not sure about Bill Franklyn)

They even have a disclaimer on their homepage... Must have got fed up with people accusing them of ripping off DNA

Apparently DNA approached Karl (Carl?) Hotblack, senior partner, to get permission.
I have a photo somewhere of one of their "For Sale" boards outside a house somewhere in London, presumably Islington...

I am waiting for delivery of my new record deck - after being 'deskless' for some years, I shall play my old vinyls to my daughters as a tribute.

I had the original vinyls; they were stolen by my landlord and the replacements had the name "Paul Neil Milne-Johnstone" excised from the first album electronically...

Mine used to have the name "Paul Neil Milne-Johnstone" but now they seem to have morphed in to "Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings."

Hmm. I did a bit of Googling, and it would appear the real Paul Neil Milne-Johnstone died two months ago from pancreatic failure.
Perhaps he's bombarding Douglas with poetry as I write this...

Oh, and apparently he was quite amused about his name being used; the lawyers only got involved because Douglas also used his real home address...
