Since I'm surrounded by ore-containing mountains, the only radio I get here is via the 'net, or from satellite TV smiley - erm

For those who have not yet installed Real Player, there's a more compact version, 'Real Player Alternative', available here:

http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm

(scroll down to find it)

The site also has a smaller version of Quicktime, and lots of different codecs for various media formats.

Neither of these altenative players insinuate into the OS as the 'originals' annoyingly tend to do.

If you download RealPlayer through the BBC links, you get a "neutered" version that doesn't deliver the same ad streams as the full version. smiley - ok

Felonious Monk - h2g2s very own Bogeyman

I'm not sure about Bill Franklyn as the Voice of the Book. I'd have gone for Ian Holm, meself. But I suppose he costs too much, being a 'serious' actor.

I think William Franklyn is a fantastic choice - since they're trying for the same timbre of voice as Peter Jones. There one line near the beginning where it sounds like they're phasing between his voice and Peter Jones, and they're very very close.

Up until now, I've been a little ho-hum about this production, but I have to admit that listening to the trailer gave me chills.

Bald Bloke

He certainly sounds right for the part.

The bit that threw me was DNA playing Agrajag

Absolutely, I think Franklyn is doing a great job smiley - biggrin

I just love the fact that he may no longer be with us, but good ol' DNA is still hanging around his 'baby' smiley - towel

I'd kind of hoped they'd get Kerry Shale to do Peter Jones' voice, but Bill Franklin is good for me too... smiley - coolsmiley - ok

Having listened to the clips provided I was instantly transported to the first time I heard the original BBC vinyl.
Rapture!
I think every choice was inspired, including the original cast members. smiley - ok

Mister Matty

The "trailer" I heard sounds great. I like the voices of the Krikkit robots. smiley - ok

One thing that is odd is that they seem to have started it from the end of the second HH book, with Ford and Arthur trapped in prehistoric Earth. Wasn't that how the first radio series ended and didn't the Secondary Phase end with them meeting the guy who controls the universe? smiley - huh

I understand the first episode explains this seeming plot hole. But I'd rather not spoil it.
