My wife and I were enjoying an excellent holiday to the USA. We had spent a number of days in New York including a trip to the top of the WTC.
We woke to what we thought would be a normal day in New Orleans to see the shocking sight of airliners ploughing into the Twin Towers.
We were shocked beyond belief and are deeply sad.
Our thoughts are with the family's of the victims.

I am deeply saddened by what has happened, but I think that the TV broadcasts were a little overdone. Every channel had it on, as if we didn't know that it had happened. But BBC2 remained like the only channel over here in Holland that had normal TV on.
I weep for the families of the deceased, and i hope that nothing like this ever happens again!!!!!!

I did my part.. I donated blood. It's going to take forever and a day to put right what went so terribly that day, but justice will be done.
I cannot express in words how I feel about this.

It is one year later and the image of both the planes crashing into the towers and the collapse of them is still embedded in my mind. I remember as I watched in horror as the events unfolded. My main thought as I cried was "My God! all those people!" This tragedy affected members of communities throughout the world. It was clearly a Global tragedy not just an American one. A friend of mine in small town Ontario lost a son in law. His grandchildren lost their father, His daujghter lost her husband. I grieve for all of you as well as the world community for the day that the earth stood still.

for New Yorkers everywhere.
for those who mourn.
for all victims of violence.
for all victims of oppression.
for those who are doing their best to carry on, and to keep working for a better world, free from fear, hatred and bigotry.
for... too many to name.

Hits you hard doesn't it.
Having stood atop the south tower myself I think I felt the fear and shock just a bit more that my collegues in the office as we watch events a year ago.
For them although a horror to watch it seamed almost unreal. But for me I have a vivid image in my memory of what the towers were like and can picture myself there and almost in some way feel the fear they victims felt too.
I cried, they didn't, they didn't know why I did.
I that way I feel I share maybe 0.1% of the grief whereas my collegues almost none.

I know it's been a long time, but I am still so sorry and my thoughts go out to those affected.
May those who lost their lives rest in peace.
