Now what?

This is so unbelievably awful. My thoughts go out to everyone involved.

I grieve with the relatives and loved ones of the missing.

Thank god for that. Internet has been on the blink - Couldn't get onto here to check. I've just been sat watching news 24 since about 3.00pm.

*shudder*

The image of that second plane banking will stay with me forever.

News 24 says there were 2 American Airline planes lost and two united Airlines planes also confirmed lost (Trade Centre, Pentagon and Airport crash.) I think it's united airlaines are quoted as saying they are "very concerned" about another of their planes: flight 175 - I think - does anyone know any more about that?

Never has something so far away or so unreal seemed so terrifying to me.

Manhattan is completely closed to any sort of traffic coming or going except for emergency traffic, but people are leaving on foot over the bridges. The loss of life in New York is unknown, but 50,000 people work in the WTC, and on an average day 150,000 people come and go.

Communication is very difficult, as everyone is trying to call in and out, but a friend of mine that works in midtown was able to get through to me because I live far enough away, but he's unable to get through to anyone located closer.

All flights have now been accounted for, and all air traffic is grounded.

I work in the news field, and I'll try to keep people updated as I find out things. But right now the focus is on rescue. There are urgent appeals for blood donors nationwide. If anyone can donate blood, please do. The phone number for the Red Cross is 1-800-GIVE LIFE ... give them a call, no matter where in the U.S. you might be. And keep praying.

Is this the beginning of the end?

It certainly puts all our little everyday niggles into perspective.



Why do people have so much hate in them?

4 planes have been hijacked,

2 have hit the World Trade Center towers

1 has hit the outer (E) ring of the pentagon

1 crashed outside of Pittsburg, a Newark to San Francisco flight

10 000 estimated dead in the WTC

40 estimated dead at the Pentagon

Neither of the two towers is standing, both lay in rubble.

Military is on its highest stae of alert.

My sister and her friend are ok. A friend of us works in the towers and wasn't heard of yet. Usually she's arriving at work at 10o'clock. We're hoping that this has saved her live.

Bossel, I'm so relieved to hear that your sister and friend are ok.

Bossel and Shea, I can't imagine sitting here in England, what you must be going through. My heart goes out to you and anyone else trying to deal with this. I hope your friend is okay Bossel.

I just want to say I hope everybody in America is okay. This is really awful, seems like an act of war. Good to hear you´re alright Shea.

But it is quite scary that in a situation like this it´s Bush that has the finger on the button.
