One of my new goals in life is to do at least one thing every day that makes me feel sexy.

So, here's my question -- what makes you feel sexy?


Mikey (who, after re-reading this post, realizes that she should probably point out that she is a girl, despite all the people around h2g2 who refer to her as a 'he').

Seems like everything makes me feel sexy. My thoughts mainly I think.
Or do you mean sexed up? In that case, fiddling with any of my piercings will do it everytime.

I don't know that I necessarily mean 'sexed up' per se. More like 'sexy' as in - I feel incredibly sexually attractive right now. I definitely know people who *always* feel sexy, but I've never been able to quite reach that. But I'm working at it....

I learnt to feel sexy when I decided I was sexy. I spent 20 years thinking I was hideous, then realised I wasn't. I spent the next 10 years thinking I was kind of nice, then I got dumped by the bloke I left my husband for. I spent a couple of months getting over that, then decided I wasn't going to mope about forever and decided I wa the sexiest creature in the entire world, and I could have any man I wanted. And then spent the best part of a year living up to it. So I think it's think youreself sexy. Do for it.

I spent 7 years feeling like a lump at highschool/secondary school, and started feeling better about myself after I left. I was "19 and never been kissed", and went travelling. Obviously my brain decided to grow up a bit while I travelled, because when I went clubbing after I got back to England, I started reciting the mantra "Feel sexy! Feel sexy!"

Somehow it worked... I can still turn it on, and when I went out recently on my own, I was chatted up!

Mikey: I think you need to believe you don't need a man. Think of yourself on your own, and exuding "pleasure pheromones" (or whatever!) and you can probably manage it. But you need to believe in the "I'm sexy" mantra, otherwise you have negative feedback (ie. The worse you feel, the worse you look)!

I agree with both Mina and Fenny. It's all about how you perceive yourself. Some specific things I do that make me feel sexy are bellydancing (it does some incredible physical things when the moves are done properly, releases endorphins and hormones.) After an hour of that you'll be purrrrrrring! Also, I pamper myself outrageously. I take long bubble baths with sensual music and candles and wine while I do a mask, then I massage on perfumed body lotion and slip into a silk nightie. Often the only one who sees me is the cat, but it sure feels good. And if I'm out and can't seem to get in the mood I just act like someone who I think is sexy. Doesn't have to be anything too outrageous, just little behaviors seem to jump start a different attitude. Have fun with it!

Well, I try to keep a running list of goals for myself. For the last year, one of those goals has been to become more happy with my body. I tend to go through phases where I'm utterly ashamed of my body and phases where I'm rather content with it. Every now and then, I have brief periods where I'm more than content -- I'm truly happy with my body, and feel pretty durned sexy. I've noticed that this self-confidence seems to spill over into a lot of other areas of my life, and also that men react to me rather differently when I feel sexy than when I don't.

So, I figured that maybe if I make a concerted effort to feel sexy at least once a day, maybe that "gee, I'm sexy!" feeling will become more long-term and less fleeting.

Here are some of the things I've found that make me feel sexy:

1) dancing around to girl power music - most often motown or jazz, but occasionally madonna, cher, or latina music.

2) lounging around the house utterly nude. (how is it that I like my body so much more nude than I do in my undies?)

3) dressing the part.

I really like the idea of belly-dancing, though -- I should give that a shot. I actually thought about taking a belly-dancing class at the community college here, but it's offered in the middle of the day when those of us with jobs can't possibly take it. Maybe I'll try one of those videos or something?

I'll buy into all of the above. Beleiving you are sexy makes you feel sexy - and guess what - men start thinking so too. I love it when I know someone fancies me.

I spent the first 23 years of my life beleiveing I was unattractive, and the next 16 married and very monogomous.

Now I realise that I am sexy, fun, and a good person to know and to be with.

what makes me feel sexy mostly has to do with moving: a long walk outside, dancing, working out (a little..), swimming

or possibly it's the other way around: these things make my body feel good - and that has a sexy aspect.

But I think you are all right, if you believe you are sexy then other people believe it too.

Well, it is true that people become more sexy if they think they´re sexy. but it can also become too much. Having women walking around with a "I´m so sexy, I don´t have to put up with you people" attitude all the time. And I don´t just mean when being hit on.

It works for me, it can for you. Write an entry for the Guide and submit it to Peer Review. Man, does that make me feel so very sexy almost as much as looking through Peer Review for Sinbin threads. Wow!

Seriously though, it's often all in the mind... don't think it, KNOW you're sexy... or something like that.

Hormones make people feel sexy.

How much is in the mind and how much can our body shape change over a few days. Does anyone have any ideas, esp about the phyisical diffrence in short spaces of time??

This is where corsets come in... for me, at least. Sorry to seem obsessed- I DO have other interests. Honest.
The feeling of being gently hugged all over is just ! This is partly mental, partly physical- it's definately a real sensation, but you feel really great about the way you look and also more confident because you've got the nerve to wear such a thing. And it gets people's attention; not anything vulgar, because most people seem too impressed (or scandalised) to shout anything coarse.
As for changing body shape: I wore a corset for 4 days in one week and my waist went down by 1/2 an inch. (It's not permanent, unfortunately- you have to keep wearing them.)
Any type of snug-fitting thing works for me; tight boots, well-fitting bras, etc. I like to feel contained, and they give good aesthetics.

(Now I'll go all soppy- apologies)
And of course there's being in a loving relationship. 2 years ago I never would have had the nerve to wear a corset in public... now? Well. Thanks, Queex.

Mandragora, this does seem sexy. Corsets are something I might play with if I had more money (can't buy corsets with just love)!

I also would be more outrageous for my (new) husband. After 7 years together, and 12 months' marriage, I still wear ultra-high-heels, leather skirt, and some of the other paraphernalia. Unfortunately, most of it is only in the house, since I'm too shy (despite my previous posting)! How obvious are corsets?
