If you start with Awful then things get better. If you start the year with Brill or Wizzo then you're in for disappointments later.
Personally speaking, I hate J*****y and it doesn't deserve a better name than that until it bucks it's ideas up a bit.
I think the system we have at present has it's faults but I don't like the sound of binary - It doesn't sound fun. Imagine it being taught in schools ...
A 16 hour day has less hours in it -Ugh! No way. there's not enough as it is!!!!!!

The renaming of the days of the week is fine. All over the world, no matter what the season, people hate Sodits and love Poets.
The problem, as I see it, with renaming the months is this...
The months of January and February, for example, are my personal faves, as this is the best bit of summer for us here in Oz. So I would not like to see them renamed to something as Northern Hemisphereistic as "Awful" and "Worse" because, in my land, they are "Brill" and "Wizzo".
As for the 16 hour day, well I've yet to see anything which would convince me of its worthiness.

Hmm. Point conceded, EvilRoy.
I think someone with a more open-minded views of J*****y and F******y should come up with alternatives. 'Ta-da' for J*****y as a good opener?
Hot F******ys! *dreams of emigration*

How about Baffling for F******y, since the number of days is so confusing.

Okay, so we have....
Ta-da!
Baffling
Boing
Ting
Parp
Whoop
Wheep
Phwoar!
Wow
Crunch
Urgh
Krimbo
I can't see anything objectionable in that lot.

I love the idea of a month called Baffling when you must confuse people as much as possible, when nothing makes sense and nothing is allowed to be explained....(rather like a h2g2 site!)
The months were a five minute job on my first nervous h2g2 posting three weeks ago and I assumed people would do their own versions. This explains the Britcentric nature of them (I was unaware it was international - sorry) and the fact that some months still have slightly cr*ppy names. Does no one want to speak out in defence of N******r? Urgh can't be worse than Baffling, surely...

Considering that I always max out my credit card at Xmas how about calling December "Deadbroke"
Ruby Wimpy
Phreako Posted Jul 28, 2001
Considering that I celebrate my birthday every year on June 4th, maybe June should be renamed YAY!!!!!!!!
But then I am sure there are Thingites that celebrate their birthdays during every month so therefore to be fair to everybody, every month would then have to be renamed YAY!!!!!!!!

As I am a Whatever child, THat being the eleventh month, I wish fo a slightly better name for it. Hmm... bow about naming it in honor of our warlord, Clivetober anyone?

I'm a Wow baby!
*Quickly decides to change the eleventh month to 'Whatever' before any Urgh babies appear....
I like Deadbroke and Oh No Not Again(I can relate to both of those) but again, they are the negative qualities of those particular months and from the feedback I feel that the Thingite calendar ought to be more optimistic.
Can't have the Deadbroke babies and the Oh No Not again babies complaining can we?
Um. I think I've solved the problem! As (unlike days of the week) people feel differently about different months, maybe the Thingite calendar should have two interchangeable names for each month so that if you hate a particular month (or all the months) you can call them by a different name so that the first month can be Ta-da! to some and Oh No Not Again! to others.
Ideas for the Pessimist's alternative Thingite Calendar welcome!
(I hope this pleases everybody)
(I'm still wondering what to do with Yay!!!!!!!- maybe we should go lunar and have a 13th month to party in. Would we have to change Astral signs?- this is getting confusing.)
*goes for lie down and a , head spinning...*
