I play Electric and acoustic six string guitars and I'm hoping to get a 12 string in the not to distant future. I also play the descant and tenor recorders as well as some percussion i.e. xylophone etc. I'm particularly into David Bowie but will listen to anything including classical music (really like Philip Glass' work). What I'd like to get from this is information on what and where things are going off musically as well as info to improve my playing. I would also like to meet some like minded musicians as I've just started writing my own material.

1) I can play nothing.....absolutely nothing. I'm lying awake most nights cursing my parents for not whipping me to guitarclass, or autoharp or piano or violin or meloditron or whatever. Guess the only thing I can play is cacaphonia *SIGH*
2)But do I like music....Hell, yes. LOVE it, can't live without it. Current favourites:
Mercury Rev: 'All Is Dream'....You MUST buy that album !
Flaming Lips
Neil Young: Always a favourite....
Bob Dylan
Hooverphonic
Underworld
Eels
Badly Drawn Boy
The list is endless, so is the record collection - been collecting for 20+ years now. Pity that my girlfriend has other thoughts about spending money....
3) I want eternal life, lots of money....no, wait: I want....damn, got that. Hmmmm, guess all I want is some more musiccrazy friends to talk to.

I play the trumpet, piano and I sing (baritone).
I don't really have a favourite composer or genre, I do a bit of everything.
I just want to be able to talk to people who actually know something about music for once!

Hi! interesting to see that so many Researchers are moosical. being an ecotype I have a yen for *wood*wind - recorders, tinwhistles and the latest excitement: a chalumeau. I also play the violin. I'm into Celtic music but also Baroque, and a big range of other stuff inc some trance, various African and anything nicely drummy.
I'm really impressed with the Radio 3 website at the mo; the Making Tracks Music Machine has kept me happily occupied for hours. occurs to me: why not a H2G2 music machine: we can't play music on sites, and linking is fraught with probs, but we could compose stuff given a suitable e-stave. Riff of the week? Guess the intro?
also: post any success we've had with home made instruments. They bug me: often really hard to get right. the weensiest difference turns a bit of elder twig into a nice whistle - and then back again!

Vetted?
Not sure about the meaning.
I'm sure Fragilis the Melodical is occupied or otherwise engaged.
Intangibles can be important to some people. I just know somewhere in this wide world, an inspired musician is sitting and drumming his fingers, on his/her desk waiting for their Guild membership to come through. Some are muttering among themselves, asking "are we being ignored on purpose". What's that I hear, the faint murmuring of an approaching mutiny?
What's that you say!!!!

By vetted I mean is there lots of research going on into everyone's background? Like the FBI?!
Incidently, if you are desperate for help to maintain this site, I would like to offer my services.

I play blues piano, harmonica, and a little bit of drums.......... I've played in a few bands here and there and have been known to howl over the occasional walking blues......... I dig on Saint-Saens, Robert Johnson, Dr. John, Memphis Slim and anything bluesy - a little bit of Public Enemy, Beastie Boys; Leftfield; G Love and Special Sauce - music for moods ranges from "Chill Out" by the KLF to "Troublegum" by Therapy?........... any virtual blues bands out there need a boogie-woogie piano?

Greetings people
1. I play the drums. I used be able to play the piano, keyboard and violin, but I haven't played them recently...
2.I listen to all sorts of music. Among my favorites are: Jamiroquai, Savage Garden, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Roger Sanchez, Pink Floyd, The Corrs, Groove Armada and some Oasis.
3. I want to just be able to talk about music (and perhaps more...but I can't think of what at the moment).

Tons of respect for all you people who participate in the very noble pursuit of making music.
I play bass guitar, double bass and I sing - bass baritone choral and popular styles.
I just love all styles of melodic and groove driven music, primarily soul funk (from Brothers Johnson, King Curtis, Tower of Power etc) Latin & Afro Cuban(Tito Puente, BV Social Club, et al) Jazz & Blues(Davis, Coltrane, Brecker Bros, Chick Corea, Clapton, Robben Ford, etc) and heaps of other stuff like Jamiroquai, Sting, Ben Harper, Chilli Peppers, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Paul Colman Trio, Pink Floyd, Chic, Level 42, Moby etc. And I wont even start on Classical/Orchestral.
What do I want? Well, if everyone was holding a musical instrument, the it would be very difficult for anyone to pick up a gun. Eating and bathing could be tricky as well, but seriously if there's people talking and doing music then I want to meet 'em and talk and do music aswell.

Hello, me again.

I am offering my services again. Honestly, if there's anything I can do in any way do let me know. I am on here most weekdays and am jolly reliable. Its just I tried to join a while ago now and I have heard nowt. I keep checking the pages and see other people who have obviously heard nowt either. I'm a bit worried. Is the guild closed now?
Anyhoo, here's some nice cake which may help out .
I'm not nagging, honest, just a bit worried!

Perhaps we could start a Temporary Musicians Guild on which we could talk about something other than why we haven't been evaluated yet?
I ANDROKTONE
(I play Bass and Guitar. And the recorder and harmonica and piano, (but badly))

Hi there... I think I applied months ago and just never heard back...
1. I play the flute, the keyboard, and I know a few chords on the guitar. I like to sing but I'm not very good at it.
2. I like most music-not rap (not that that's music... ) or country or heavy metal... but I like most other stuff.
3. Just want to talk (and complain) about music. Easy enough.

OK then, lets chat amongst ourselves until whenever.
May I start? I want to know when the most appropriate time is for dusting off the old xmas albums to get in the mood. Not that I'm sad or anything.
I also wondered, does anyone find it as hard as I do to keep up the pratice when I blatantly have no direction (I play guitar btw) or are you never short of inspiration?
Lets make some tea and distribute cake whilst I'm here.. Shout if you wanted anything stronger.....

I'd say late November... preferably after Thanksgiving, if you want to play tunes... but you can play them anytime.
