I never said I was good at all of them! My qualifications range from grade 8 (highest) down to merely amateur status. The talent seems to be genetic (largely from my mother's side).

Much the opposite with me
I'm the only musical one in our immediate family, except for my sister who has a pretty good voice and pair of lungs on her..
I'm Grade 5½

Hi there, *waves generally*
hi SEF, we meet again! *waves at SEF*
I'd like to join too!
I play the clarinet and Tenor Saxophone, both graded (clarinet gd.5 ABRSM and Sax gd.7 GSMD - though I reckon I've progressed significantly on the clarinet since I took the grade in 1998!), and the recorder and piano ungraded. I sing, but generally when no-one else is around, 'nuff said.
I enjoy playing Mozart on the clarinet and jazz (particularly herbie hancock) on the sax, but have a wide interest in music listening. I'm starting to put my music collection up at A901360.
I'm still trying to find my way around h2g2, so I don't want anything in particular from the Guild at the moment other than to use it as a base for exploring further. When I'm more comfortable with the system I might help out.

Hey, Danny B - I didn't know you were new head of the guild!
And who better to do it but a Queen (or goo, I forget the full roster lists of my clubs, you'll have to excuse me ) fan?

1. I used to play bass & guitar untill I broke my neck & lost the fine control of my fingers. (Dave Brubeck also broke his neck, but he still managed to write Take Five). Now I mostly play synths and beatbox, samplers and a bit of percussion. I'm working on a studio-based project (Mycology) with the drummer from my old band and one or two guests. I'm also part of a Reggae & Hip Hop sound system (Champion Sounds/STN), which satisfies my craving for playing live.
2. Where do I start? NIN, Massive Attack, Pigface, Zappa, Hendrix, JJ Cale, KLF, Stone Roses, James Brown, JS Bach, Public Enemy, On-U Sound, Stone Love, BB King, the list just goes on & on...
3. more sex, more drugs & more rock'n'roll

Hi Mycelium! *waves*
Sorry to split hairs, but Paul Desmond (the sax player in The Dave Brubeck Quartet) wrote Take Five. Dave Brubeck wrote the rest of the album (Time Out), including the hit 'Blue Rondo A La Turk', but not 'Take Five'.
Sorry, but it is one of my favourite albums.

Well, I play a little Piano, a little Flute (in both cases, I do not refer to the size of the instrument, for reasons both of confusion and embarrassing monickers, i.e a little flutist, or worse, "He's a little pianist.")
but I'm much more a guitar player now
favourite artist/band........oooohhh.....Alanis Morissette OR Counting Crows
*busily searching for a young 19ish beginner drummer to start band and get famous.*
(there are no flaws in the plan.)

Hello to Hefelumpman and White Wizard
Welcome to the Guild - there is a badge at A434648 for you to put on your Personal space.
And sorry it's taken so long, White Wizard, but the Guild was going through a bit of a lull at that time...

1) I am a guitar player
2) I love Dylan and Tim buckley in particular, but also have a fairly encyclopedic knowledge of decent contemporary music.
3)I would like to ask the community if they see anything ironic in Rocketman starting a 'Punk' Society?

PS The last question was just my little joke. I look forward to being part of this fantastic looking community, as I have been wandering aimlessly around H2G2 for too many months now.

1) What instrument(s) do you play, or want to play? Do you sing?
Saxophone, keyboards, air guitar and a bit of singing too
Do you have a favorite composer, musical artist, band, or music genre?
Hmm... fave band = switchblade symphony
I like all kinds of musical genres really.
But especially techno
Is there anything in particular you would like from the Musicians Guild?
Um... likeminded people?
