I´m the usual jack of all trades. I started by playing violin cello when I was about 10. Since then I´ve fooled around with the usual guitar and piano but also tenor sax, which (I´m sad to say) I have less and less time to keep up. My main instruments are drums and percussions and have been for years, though I also love singing.
I usually have several projects going on simultaneously. Now, luckily, I´ve had more time to concentrate on our pop/rock band in which I play the drums and sing backin vocals.
I listen to lots of different kinds of music, but my favorite bands, if I had to choose, could be for example Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, U2, Jars of Clay etc.
I would very gladly join your guild if you´ll have me... LET ME IN!!!

The Snockery Friddle
Sorry it took me so long to respond,I just emerged from a very crazy 2 weeks. I play a little guitar and even less banjo (as my daughter Yankee Shoes so subtley pointed ou). The banjo is uncomfortable for me to play with shoulder and back problems (not to mention the eternal problem of keeping the sucker in tune), and, well, rather loud and obnoxious, so I thought the mandolin would serve to replace it musically in our act. I tried a mandolin at a party ,and seemed to pick it right up. A friend is looking through his garage for one he bought in Greece, so that I will have one to start on.

I fancy trying the banjo myself. Too loud and obnoxious? I have that problem with my accordion. I've had the thing for years but never found anywhere to play it without upsetting someone.

Hi! I'd like to join..I play the oboe and love it. My favorite type of music is classical, and my favorite to play is baroque and mozart..overall...I like playing many others, too, those are just the first that come to mind. So yes..I'll be stopping in here pretty frequently, if nobody minds

The accordian is definately right up there in obnoxitude with the banjo. For a very obnoxious and yet somehow entertaining musical experience, check out "The Berrymans". A couple from Wisconson, the female uses the accordian to distract from her voice, and it all works somehow. It is almost entirely comedy( aside from presentation I mean) You do know what perfect pitch is with the accordian?

Mr. Cyde: The Tearer and Master of Bad Jokes. Posted Sep 12, 2002
I have boon a singer (off and on) for Twelve years. I used to play drums pretty well (until my brother sold his set). I am taking up the harmonica and plan to begin guitar lessons as soon as I can afford it. After I feel proficient with that I plan to learn piano/keyboard.
I have (for most of my life) been a great lover of clasical music from all periods. As far as modern music goes, I enjoy most everything with the exception of modern country (bad shivers). I won't go into it though.
If I have a favorite piece of music it's got to be Beethoven's 9th symphony (the whole thing).
I love the idea of this club and would very much like to be part of it.

I'm not even sure my accordian knows, some of the notes sound very iffy. Are you telling me it's another transposing nightmare where everyone has to play in different keys or something? That's not going to encourage me to play the thing.

The Duke of Dunstable Posted Sep 18, 2002
1. Did a bit of harmonica in my blues days, but would very much enjoy playing drums.
2. Mostly Pink Floyd, nowadays. But also a lot of other stuff, like 70:s/80:s hard rock (Judas Priest, Iron maiden, Nazareth) and popish stuff like Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nelly Furtado and so on.
3. Ummm...dunno. Yet.

I hope, Dunster, you are more successful at fitting the MuG logo on your space than I was.......I didn't find Danny B's instructions terribly explicit...

Ooooh... In my defence, I ought to point out that the original instructions weren't mine - they were inherited from the original owner of the Guild... but I take your point
I have updated the page since then, and I *hope* it makes more sense. Please let me know if it doesn't...

1.What instrument(s) do you play, or want to play? Do you sing?
I am a percussionist and backing vocalists in a very bad punky rock group called "Berko-Gleason and the Wug Test" who perform rarely, and perform well even more rarely. I play the bongo drum and castanets. i also have a very out of tune piano in the hallway to my flat...
2.Do you have a favorite composer, musical artist, band, or music genre?
Wagner, Meatloaf, Beautiful South, Red Hot Chili Peppers
3.Is there anything in particular you would like from the Musicians Guild?
Nothing in particular, No.
