>Is a snockerty friddle some sort of musical instrument..?
No. You're probably thinking of the frockerly snoodle, ancient instument from the north of England, infamously difficult to play without causing severe chaffing and/or hernia.

Danny! Don't buy a mandolin unless you're _sure_. They're a sod to tune, impossible to learn, and sound horrible in 98% of cases. Get a balalaika instead; they've only got 3 strings.

Now look what happened to that George Formby bloke. Mohammed Ali kicked the c**p out of him.

Surely you mean a violin?
If you can play a few basic chords on guitar you can (finger size permitting) play a few basic chords on mandolin, cos they're almost the same but back to front.
Mine stays in tune. Does that mean I have the 2% case?

I don't own one, but several of my friends have bought one, tried to play it like Peter Buck, and then taken it back/left it in the attic/smashed it.
I had to listen to the results, we're talking normally very talented guitarists here, and they sounded awful.
I stick to keys myself - you can't go wrong with a big organ.

I listen to music of most genres, although I am not keen on John Cage or modernist styles. Favourite pop music is Moby, Santana, David Gray, Dido, Pink Floyd to name a few. I play the piano/keyboard, and make feeble attempts at playing clarsach and classical Spanish guitar. I have a box of percussion instruments which I take to parties and Sunday school. I have done some composing of my own, which has been tried and tested by various youngsters.I would love to join the Musician's Guild. I am afraid my computer skills are not good enough to offer help with maintenance of MG pages, but who knows? Maybe one day

Mom, you'll do fine on the mandolin! (don't discourage her... she's giving up the BANJO to take it... I'm very happy with that little arrangement). Just listen to a TON of Chris Thile. (besides, he's my future husband *in my dreams*)

Aha! What I think you need to do is go back to the 'Edit Page' for your Personal Space and then tick the box marked 'Guide ML'... that might sort it out

Hello I think I put the first message somewhere else! Oops. (lets Hope I dont do it again)
I play guitar, piano and keyboard. I also use electronic devices to make strange and interesting sounds. I frequent my friends studio and work on new ideas from time to time, and do gigs aswell.
I taught myself since 15 years old and love plucking my guitar. I`m trying to develope my own picking style but have a long way to go yet.
I do sing, usually with four glasses of wine (just to make me feel a bit more confident). I like many styles of music and would love to work with new ideas and styles. I go under the name The Impossible flower; which is my chilled out sound, and Digital butter when I`m feeling a bit electronic and want to play loud crazy beats and synths.
This guild could give me contacts to people who want to listen to my ideas and vice versa. Will you let me in? Please?
