(ostensibly on David's behalf, but see below)
Thank you for the Mothers' Day greetings ... sorely needed here, where I made my own breakfast in bed, and spent the morning doing laundry, and cleaning up the kitchen from my family's debris so that I could bake cakes (one of which Sic dropped catastrophically before we'd got it through the front door). After that I refused to drink tea when we were at Mum's and quaffed half a bottle of pink champagne instead, which improved my mood considerably.
Then DH 'cooked' the roast dinner. Sigh.
Mags, I don't see how you can sue the council if you fall through your own floor - case law gives building control almost no liability. And if your cellar has existed for more than six months there's nothing the building control section can do about it anyway.
I happen to have the complete building regulations upstairs at the mo, I'll try to remember to look up cellar and see if it carries a particular definition in that context. I had tremendous fun today trying to explain to my siblings what a one and a half storey extension is.

Strawberry pie is delicious when you slice the fruit up like apples or rhubarb, combine it with sugar, spices and a little fresh lemon juice, and make a regular two crust pie. The one crust pie with the whole berries and the orange muck on top? A travesty. A crime against delicious fruit.

I think I need many, many broken pajama legs! Performance-wise, I think I'm OK, but our technical rehearsal was very interesting... The set is not completely in place and the costume changes are fiendish. I don't envy the tech people all the hard work they're going to have to do tomorrow.

David, if it all goes to plan before the big day you've probably peaked too early. But break a few legs anyway!
For those interested, here's a couple of pics of today's work down the allotment. 10m wide by 17.5m long may only be half a full plot, but it's plenty for us.

My best happy birthday wishes to FG, Santragenius V and Bagpuss (or was it David? My apologies!)
I've been locked out of my account for a bit, just got back in (seems that BBC hates my browser, Google Chrome? -- either that or I've been naughty).
for Lil, I hope whatever is wrong comes right again, soon.

Welcome back SpaceCadette - we worry when Salonistas go AWOL. The lock-outs seem to be random and unfathomable.
The house is finally ready for its close up Mr de Mille, but I am exhausted. When the Estate Agent's been and gone I'm going to curl up on the sofa with Radio 3 and my study books.

Mornin All
Cool and cloudy but dry.
Lots of Viking influences over here, our Parliament, the oldest democratically elected government in t'world is called Tynwald, meeting place in Viking speak I think.
Talkng of which keeps a weather eye on Ti and Santra, put that loangboat BACK. You'll never find us, Mananan drops his veils over us when any invaders appear.

Oh, and by the way it's brilliant blue skies in these parts this morning. Still frosty at night but a very nice morning nevertheless

Those apple cordons will be great. For some reason I'd been imagining Tree-of-life type espaliers, but diagonal cordons are .
My . I've taken a
but all I want to do is sleep and I don't actually have a bed at the moment.

*gathers provisions*
Sunny and cold, as was the weekend. What litte there was in the way of melting had the effect of making the thick ice layer that still covers most pathways and pavements even smoother Time to get myself two of these and strap to my boots
