A Conversation for LIL'S ATELIER

the Vikings are still pretty far away... i'm not skeered! (well, maybe a little)... Stocking up on provisions.

Exactly my sentiment, Owl. If the tech rehearsal goes perfectly, you've peaked too soon.

Hugs, Mol. I had a mother's day quite like that a few years ago. I didnt get even a card, and by the end of the horrible day, i yelled at my husband and told him that even mothers strung out on crack get at least a freaking card, and i deserve at least something.

I love the apple tree cordon. Now i get it. Awesome.

We went for cordons (a single stem tree set at an angle) rather than espaliers (upright stem with horizontal branches set at certain heights) as we can get more trees in that way. They'd better not die on us now that we've got them in! I want apples from them in a two or three years time.

I've never had a perfect technical rehearsal (and indeed never will). This one was just particularlyu yikesome, given that about half the set wasn't ready including our turntables and door. It really is going to be a stressful day for stage management today getting it all sorted - they obviously couldn't practice the set changes properly last night (which is a large part of the point of tech rehearsals), so will need to get the set completed and do some trial runs before us irritating cast members arrive for the dress rehearsal. Cast are under strict instructions not to even think about arriving at the theatre before 6, so as to make sure we don't get in their way.

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Just a quick note to say I'm back, after BBCID took some strange offence to my account and locked me out. Drowning in backlog, back soon.

Ah, that reminds me... Since Kerr was one that I thought might be interested when the car went all smiley - weird on me (Welcome back, Kerr!) I thought I should post some closure (unless I already did--bit smiley - sleepy this morning) We ended up just replacing the whole starter. The mechanic had been able to get the thing to start after we'd had to have it towed from the post office (sitting in a car for 2 hours with a 6-year-old isn't fun--and there hadn't even been any mail! At least Grace wasn't with us, that being our next stop) Tom decided that he was tired of the worry each time the key was inserted, though. Reasonable charge--just the part and 45 minutes of labor. Tom's dad, of course, complained that we'd gotten ripped off, because he'd gotten a starter for 1/3 the price... But then admitted it was 2-3 decades agosmiley - rolleyes

I have paid between $35 and $556 for a starter motor. It all depends on the car, age of car, and when you get it. A 20 year old car might be hard to find, a 10 year old easier.

I'm feeling decidedly meh today. Nothing specific is bad, certainly compared with what some Salonistas are dealing with. But I am definitely feeling whingey. Still the world keeps turning and hopefully I'll be cheerier soon.

The place we'd booked for the scouting weekend this coming has surrendered to the leaving winter and has a severe water damage. So we can't go there. In other words, we're in a hurry... New place, new maps, new... smiley - run

it's a good defence against Vikings though. It turns their longboats into firewood before they set sail.
