I think it's just UK and Ireland that celebrate Mother's Day today, of the European countries. The others are spread out all over the spring months (mostly).
In Sweden, it's the last Sunday in May.

What a silly man that man from the council is. Do you know a friendly buildings surveyor Mags? You could ask them to have a look.
Today we're finally going to plant our apple trees. Over the last few weekends we've been doing all the preparation and today they're going to go into their home. We're having them trained as cordons along one side of the allotment to work as a bit of a boundary and to fit more into the space we've got. I'll try and remember to take photos later

We have different google doodles today, in the UK there's one for Mothering Sunday, and in the rest of the world there's one celebrating Pi Day:

The whole family hasn't had dinner together since Wednesday last week! Finally, today we're all at home. And some - 16 has a friend over who stays for dinner
It's ok, really. But it seems to say something about us...?

Break a pajama leg, David!
Co-incidentally I've just been reminiscing with a video of am-dram stuff I did a few years back, including a tapping ensemble to Steam Heat.
Mothers Day is going well so far - my son phoned (he's never done cards since those Primary School ones with hand prints in them), daughter gave me a card and is cooking dinner, and Max gave me a card and a potted orchid

We've planted our orchard. 6 apple trees to be trained as cordons. It does look good, even with the gaps where more trees will go when funds permit. So much more to do though and in the garden as well.

what is a cordon? and why are there regulations about how many trees you can plant?
9EXth Conversation at Lil's
Metal Chicken Posted Mar 14, 2010
LML - There aren't any regulations about how many trees we can plant, but we're limited by the space available and all the other things we want to grow on the allotment. Training the trees as cordons simply means we can get more in a small space. The idea is that instead of growing them as normal tree shapes, we make them grow as one main branch with a few side branches allowed to set fruit.
Phil has taken pictures so we'll try and get some online where you can see what we mean.

Break a leg, David!!
Although I've done a fair amount of public speaking, the idea of performing on stage gives me the shudders. Definitely take my hat off to those who can........and clap at the end
A chainsawing day today. Our logstore is nearly full, and there are several more tons to go yet. Took the beast apart to clean it and check it and nearly didn't get it together again. All came good in the end though.
Mrs Eats out in the garden too, which always brings a smile to her face. I think the back garden should look good this year as it's had a good facelift over the last couple of weeks.
How big is your allotment MC?

I'm with FGÉHappy Mother's Day!
Tod, Lil's having some real life time. She'll be back eventually. She's fine, but just not here right now.
In celebration of Pi Day, D and I are going to bake a pie. She wants strawberry, but I talked her into to going to the store and seeing what we can come up with. I want to go by Mother's and get real food! -- sorry, Mother's is a store, not my mum's house...

The kitchen is looking good, and ready to photograph. The living room - not so much. Yet.
