I'm in a generally fine mood. Nothing especially exciting has happened this morning, so I'm just generally spunky-dorey. Nipping into town to buy some decent LPs in a few mins though, so the day will pick up from there. And wonderful things will happen.

Good to hear it. I'm at work today, but I think I'll pop down to the computer fair later on.
Otherwise I'm fine and looking forward to some time off soon

I looked at that thread and reckoned that Styx would give as good as he got, Amy. I don't reckon you have been acquainted with GR very long -- fact is, he has a VERY soft spot for things furry, especially rats and mice.

I don't know about a prize for post 1000, which will probably occur fairly soon, but I will of course start the 22nd conversation. Next Saturday I'll start another (if not before), but then I'll be on the road until the 1st of October. So I may have my nephew inaugurate another conversation if the need arises, while I'm gone...

I go to New Mexico on business, primarily, although I am making it as much of a holiday as possible. Like taking 3 days to get there by taking the railway.

I'm not completely certain, but I think New Mexico is the newest state in the continental US (I.e., excluding Hawaii and Alaska, which became states in 1960-61). Arizona might be younger.

Much of New Mexico has been appropriated by the Feds for military use, and there's also the town of Roswell, UFO center of the United States. I won't be going to Roswell! And then there are some really beautiful mountain areas which have already become expensive ski-holiday meccas, and there are the Carlsbad Caverns, and Indian reservations. I'll be sticking to rural and historical places on my visit.

Today I bought a compilation called Axe Attack (£2 on LP), featuring some of the biggest names of 1980's metal. After listening to them all, I played Iron Maiden's first album, released the same year as that compilation (1980). Yes, Maiden are indeed the cream of the metal crop. Without a doubt.

That's OK, GR. I get very protective about Styx. I think I may be developing a little crush on him.
