It's report day. I have to cobble together an interim explanation for the stuff I'm doing to the Kid's face. This is not quite as stressful as trying to figure the face out in the first place.
Matina, bring a pitcher of OJ, some mbougatses and a few glasses out to the veranda, please.

Hello Lil. Nice to see you out of your studio.

Hello Amy, Lil. Nice to see the two of you.
Lil, did everyone decide to let the Safari thread die while I was away? I noticed that people haven't posted to it in weeks.

And I think I was the last to do so, after it had been dormant for at least a week. In my case, I got busy with the election and with RL work. Odra was having ISP problems and hasn't been seen at all in weeks. You were away and Lil and Redbeard and Red were all busy with the election. Now, if you were to post to that thread, it might just come alive. Maybe.
Lotsa talk about STUMPED. It's true that there is a difference between the founding members and newer recruits. It frustrates me sometimes, too. For a story thread to be fun, there has to be a certain attitude of the participants. It's hard to describe, but continuity is a big part of it and a willingness to "go with the flow". A story has to present obstacles to be interesting; however, if every obstacle is solved in the very next post by someone using his "super" powers, or something, then it gets very tiresome thinking up new obstacles. Just about anyone can think of ways around any obstacle and post it in one post, but what is most satisfying is to combine ideas from several people and come up with a creative way around it. That means NOT posting a solution, but posting a suggestion.

Just for the record, I did post to that thread. Yesterday, I think.
And on the matter of STUMPED, I'm thinking about making a more stringent initiation process, involving an IF game that'll be sent after a waiting period so that newbies can experience continuity and threadiquette. Don't know how people will feel about it when I get everything set up, but it'll probably be better in the long run.

Sorry I can't join you, but my Internet connection's maximum tonight seems to be 14400 bps, which is a b-i-t t-o-o s-l-o-w for me. See you all tomorrow

And hello, Affy. Just noticed that you had posted to that thread. I'm going to check it out now.
You know, as well as the I-F game for newbies, we should get them to read the Continuity article, too. Maybe we need an initiation page to put all these ideas. If we do that, then some of the current, errant members would want to read it too. I could have a shot at it if you like.

I keep on getting that message too. And other threads are reluctant to load. The server knows that MM is on holiday, doesn't it. Probably pining. It's just attention-seeking.

I've seen that error message before and it was fixed by Jim, one of the powers in the towers. I'm not getting it right now though.
