Where skits are concerned, Crunchy Frog is what always comes to my mind.

Oh unfair! I was three posts away fronm the new convo and now it's the third LED already. I need to move time zones.
I once designed a whole series of lessons around one of the Monty Python tapes available. That'll teach the students to ask about British humour. I always liked the one about the architect and the abatoir.
Which is a nice tenuous link to Ag's post. Have a mink and a silver birch m'dear.
I have just finished my job for the summer. Yay! Although they are trying to lure me into a months worth of daytime work by promising me hot and cold au pairs or plane tickets for my mother in law. I think I shall stand firm though.

Hi Lil and my Transatlantic friends.....
Today, I had to take poorly Lady to the vet for a blood test.
Results came back at 4PM GMT. Lady had acute kidney failure.
Sadly, Lady went to sleep at 1820GMT....

Also in the bad news department, I came home from work to find a neighbor's house and outbuildings a gigantic pile of rubble. The property that adjoined my back yard. My neighborhood is going commercial, but we had hoped that my block would be the last to be developed. I wanted it to wait until I am old enough to retire, at least. The house that I'm talking about faced east and is on Route 66/Business 71. My house faces the street a block over. The line between residential and commercial runs through my back yard. Sooooo, my property value just either went into the toilet or I'll be getting a call from a developer one day soon.

Oh, GT, that's rough. I feel for you and your family.
Ag's post about construction reminded me...there are new apartments going up across the street from me. Last summer, they dug up the parking lot (think fingernails on a chalkboard writ large...and for days). Thus summer, they're putting the final outer coating (sorta like adobe, but not)...it's a spray method. It basically sounds like the world's largest mosquito in one's ear. It's now week two.
And mind you, this all starts at 7 a.m. every single weekday.

What worries me is that if the developers ~don't~ want it, I'll be stuck with very little value as a residence. So, yes, at this point, I'll be better off if they rezone the rest of my property to commercial.

If they don't want it, those that take over will want a car park, won't they????

I'm not sure what they'll want. I would thinkthey wuld want at least the part of my yard that is already commercial. but the hgouse that was demolished was quite large and had a nice-sized lot. They may think it's already deep enough. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Good night folks. I need to find a large G&T and a good book to help me relax.

I am sorry for your loss, GT.
Hold out for those developers, Hyp. Perhaps you will be able to fund your retirement in the UK.
