Of course if you look at the ICC world test rankings, the Aussies are first and England are fifth, so we're not exactly favourites.

And don't they take cricket quite seriously in India? It's all a bit of a mystery to me. If there are televised matches here, I haven't run across them. The cricket vocabulary is colorful.

India are the finacial power house of cricket. With their large population advertisng revenues are huge. But, they are, some maintain dumbing the game down with shorter matches, night time matches and the latest abomination twenty twenty. Each side only gets tewnty overs. There are six bowls per over. I am a died in the wool five day test match man.

Hyp, sorry, missed your post yesterday. That's...worrying. Maybe they'll offer you enough to retire?
I am up far too early for as late of a night as I had. Ugh.

Do you attend a lot of matches, WA? Or mostly watch on TV? My sport is baseball, but it's a long drive to the ballpark and the tickets are expensive once you get there, so I am stuck watching on TV. I went once last summer and will probably go once or twice this summer.

No I used to be a keen tele watcher but the cricket governing body sold it's soul to Sky TV so cricket is a pay to view sport and I refuse to give any money to Murdoch's News International.
But because of good old Aunty Beeb we have something called Test Match Special on Radio 4 long wave. Very English, very idiosyncratic, very very good. I wallow in it. The sound of Summer.

Aahhh, weekend. Sitting in front of hootoo with a caipirinha that 16 does not covet at all as she finds it 'orrible.

Evening all
I remember a short description of cricket, is that when you are out, you are not out until your team is all out and even then they are not out. Even though I played it, I still find the rules quite confusing as well as the unusal cricketing terms.

* fingers crossed I'm back from my travels and have restored some kind of organisation to The Towers.
* wonders what level of depredation #3 has inflicted on The Towers during my five week absence.
I'm rather envious of your concert, Santra, and will just have to make do with the cd when I get home.
If you Scandinavian types care to look out your windows at about 13:00 GMT tomorrow, I'll give you a wave as I fly past
I am currently watching Mr T go round in ever decreasing circles as he attempts to render all suitcases within the allowed weight.
I had my panic half an hour ago when I looked at a huge pile on the bed and wondered how the heckity it was going to fit into two wee cases ... so I threw out some stuff.

Teuchter, you just have to plan a trip to Copenhagen for next year's Copenhagen Jazz Festival I'll make sure to look up and wave. Do you reckon I'll have to wave to the front of the plane?

Test match special, probably the only sports show that can spend less time talking about the sport in question and more on anything else that takes the presenters fancy. Wonderful stuff
Made it underground and back, a good day out.

I am going to go pick up my offer letter in about an hour and a quarter. Hopefully I'll get to fill out all the paperwork I will need while I am there, so as not to have to go through this on Monday so I can get down to work.
