Z, watch the sodium in those pre-packaged soups!
Well, I have my scooter/walker thing. It's a right knee one, though, so for a week, it's going to be a bit of a pain. Next Monday, if all goes well, I will be getting a different one that actually steers. This one is, well, a bit cumbersome. But at least I'm off my damned foot!

Well, at least no one had to watch the full there's-fire-I'm-flammable panic mode

Hi Bel , don't be a stranger in the salon
Lil , take it easy the housework will still be there tomorrow and the dust will only be a tad thicker . Was it Quentin Crisp who said the dust doesn't get any thicker after 4 years ?
It must be worrying for Hyp returning home knowing that there has been a storm .

Warning.
So, I'm grading papers. Always an interesting task, but I am having serious problems with this batch of papers. Assumptions about the nature of evil (always vanquished by good), women (witches are *always* women, didn't you know), and religion (Christianity is the only 'true' religion). Not to mention the egregious grammar errors with their/they're/there and random capitalization. Oh, and my personal favorite, putting the definite article 'the' in front of someone's name, because apparently, the student assumed that 'Burchard of Worms' couldn't *possibly* be a name! Never mind a thesis, transitions, topic sentences, or even something as simple as, oh, I don't know, a title? I despair, and wonder how in the world they actually graduated high school, much less passed freshman composition!
Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. I'm going to take my papers elsewhere and grade them, as they are so off-putting that I'm finding it hard to concentrate on them. Then I'm off to see Star Trek. I've heard good things.

I couldn't cope with that MR - I think you are astonishingly restrained.

It was indeed. It's true too. My Ma and my Grandma both disliked housework intensely, and my Ma had the strength of mind not to do any. She lived in the same house from when I was 10 to when I was 23 or so, and I recognised the truth of the remark when I read 'The Naked Civil Servant' in my mid teens and kept a weather eye out for changes in the level of squalor from then on. There was never any less - the house was never clean - but it didn't get worse either.
Awesome.

Speaking of dust - if you're mildly allergic to it (like I am) it's actually better to let it stay put on the floor rather than trying to vacuum it up, thereby spreading it around, but now in teeny tiny particles floating in the air oh so easily inhaled - stirred up by the vacuum cleaner itself unless you have some very good filters in it.
Dust bunnies might look apalling but at least you can't inhale them...

I must say that one of the really really boring things about being a stay at home Mum is the constant bleeping housework. Especially the floorwashing.
We got to get people to rewrite their entire assignments when they were written in particularly bad English. If they were merely incoherent, I contented myself with writing angry comments in the margin.
In other news...
Actually... I like the League of Extraordianry Gentlemen. Prefer the graphic novel, of course, but...
40 wpm for my typing. Not a surprise, really. Hunt and peck, hunt and peck.
Is it this weekend for your wedding, GDZ? That really went by fast. Sending good weather wishes your way. And the organsiation fairy, since she doesn't seem to be doing my washing up, she might as well make herself useful somewhere else, and I'm sure you'll need her. Did you get all your CDs burned?
*Waves bye bye sadly to Hyp.*
Not sure that this notepad business is a goer. I feel more than usually disjointed.

...but then, a wet wipe will get rid of the dust without stirring it up...
