Any would do. I could even do with a Friday. In fact I'd love it to be my summer vacation.

Happy Mother's Day to any USA'ian Moms ... I don't think there are any Canuck ones in here, so I will deal with them more personally, seeing as we share the same occassion.

I spent yesterday with my mom so I could avoid spending it today with her and my grandmother. Grandma's a nasty old sourpuss, and she's currently in a great big snit about a bunch of trivial things too silly to mention here. That's the usual state of affairs, but trusted sources say she's even more intolerable than usual so I'm doing myself a favor and staying home. My mom is hoping to spend only a hour or two with her. Good luck, mom!
I've never asked for my money back because a film was bad, and I've paid for some excruciatingly bad cinema. That's right, I'm looking at you, Matrix 2.

I'm so glad I was the only person who didn't think Matrix was as great as folks claimed - it meant I escaped the sequel! My summary was basically "pretty, pointless, and please stop with the sledgehammer sleep imagery!"

Where's me manners? Hi Tod
Off to bed - 'twas 3:15 on Friday night (well, Saturday morning) and around midnight yesterday . Struggling to find out why I've got no signal in a downstairs-to-upstairs network cable - won't happen with my eyes halfway closed...

I love Matrix 2 from the bit the go to the Merovingian's restaurant to the end of the car chase that follows. The rest I can leave right alone.
B had a much better ending for the series than the one they actually did. I'll see if he can remember what it was...

I find the only thing to do with burns is immerse them in cold water for half an hour - which is impossible when you've a burnt tum.

!YOUCH!
But at least it hurts - it's a more serious burn if it doesn't hurt cos it's gone right the way through the skin layers.

STRANGELY STRANGE ( A brain on a spring ) Posted May 13, 2007
I don't go to cinema so didn't see Matrix(1) when it first came out, and I always avoid hype around films. However, although the sequals were disapointing, I thought the first Matrix was fantastic, one of my favourites of all time, and a rare pre-recorded DVD I bought.
Matrix(1) sadly spurned a whole load of copist films using similar special effects which spoiled it somewhat.

I thought the Matrix was a very very good film, but overrated. To hear some comments you'd think the idea of reality being a computer-generated illusion had never been seen before. Heck, it was in Red Dwarf several years before.

Hi Tod.
Eurovision......sounds sort of fun to watch. Are the contestants amateurs?
Movies....I seldom go to one. The older I get the less I enjoy movie theaters. For one thing the sound systems are too loud for such small rooms. Gives me a headache. I remember big, beautiful theaters with proper lobbies and balconies. a quarter for a newsreel, a short and two feature films. Dang I'm old.
Something nice happened today. My brother was here since it's Mother's Day. We were talking about my vacation and traveling in general. The end result of the conversation is that we have decided to take one vacation a year together. I'm alone and his wife refuses to fly. This is a perfectly sensible solution for both of us. It should work out well since he is a history buff and he likes gardens. Now we just have to work out where to go. He suggested Machu Picchu, which I would love, or a cruise up the Congo. I like the idea of a river cruise but would prefer the Rhine or the Danube.

Call me crotchety, but I'd much rather wait for a movie to come out on dvd or OnDemand. We have a lovely widescreen HD tv, and I would just as soon see a film in the comfort of my own home. Not to mention that since movies have gotten so darn long, I can bit the pause button when I have to run to the potty.

Hey Tod, I hoped you might drop by. Everybody, Tod visited Lincoln last year and met some of my neighbors. Anyway, welcome to the atelier. Have a look round our forum page, A304354 -- there's an offsite link that leads to lots of interesting stuff.
Re Michael Moore: apparently it's OK to go to Cuba if you're doing a documentary. It's the people he took with him who could be prosecuted successfully. All publicity is good publicity...
I don't go out to movies any more, haven't in years. Bob bless netflix! I have The Queen and The Last King of Scotland here in the house, waiting to be watched.
It seems that we have got a bit beyond 2000 here, what? Must be time for a new thread, tomorrow perhaps.

You know, I can't stand Michael Moore and I despise the sycophantic rantings of his fans, but I hope that he wins. The US treatment of Cuba is foolish and charging someone for going there is asinine.

I haven't seen Matrix. Sig. S. loves films and we go to the local cinema a couple of times a year. It is run by volunteers or it couldn't run at all in this small community. By aging people from the former hippie communities and their now grown up children. Quality films.
I found this year's Eurovision Song Contest had some very interesting and good tunes and singers, and that the Central and East European countries presented the best songs, the best singers and most tolerable shows (with a few exceptions). Mainstream pop leaves me bored. Usually I only like one or two songs, but this year more than half of them were ranging from tolerable to good imo. Finland put on a fantastic stageshow, very cute stories in between, very good presenters (except for the pink princess). My only complaint is about the Danish commentators - condescending, discriminating, unknowledgable with a puerile so-called humour. I won't go on about them, but I've written my first ever complaint. I usually stick to praise or keep my muoth shut.
The Hungarian blues and the German cowboyhat crooner-thing were very good - but were they European popsongs?
I'm sure you can go to different European Broadcasters's website and view the show.
Enough. I have an article, a letter for 17's headmaster and some contracts to write before a Union meeting.

Good night all.
