Oh thank god. It's Mother's Day in the _USA_. I've been panickingly wondering if I've just made a horrible daughterly blunder.

It is currently raining, I am somewhere in my revision schedule.
Didn't see Eurovision-no telly. Never taken much real interest anyway.
Haven't seen any of the spider man movies, or for that matter, Pirates of the Carribbean II-not much of a movie goer.
I've always been interested in the Huguenots, ever since I discovered that they have a chapel in Canterbury Cathedral (at one time they were a big enough group to warrant the whole crypt) and a French Cardinal was buried in the cathedral in the seventeenth century, for the same reason-one of the Colligney brothers. Wrote an assessed essay on their seventeenth century fates last year actually.

[tartaronne ] listening in on political debate, Eurovision Song Contest, dialects etc. but wanting to rummage in the garden before dark.
The centre of Europe is in the vicinity of Vilnius (maybe Poland, maybe Estonia, all measurers are not in agreement) so in fact there are not very many Eastern European countries. I mean, that makes the Baltic countries, Romania and Bulgaria Central European and Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and all the former Yugoslavian countries West European.
Hello Tod.
I couldn't get the quizz link to work. 'Angelic', I would say off hand. Just ask Hati for reference.

>but it's beyond silly now
What? Just because 9 of 10 moving on from the semifinals as I understand it were East European (the 10th being Turkey) and 16 out of 24 in the finals were...?
We watched some of it on-off-like while at friends, had a of the silver-clad astronauts, whereever they were from. We didn't vote - if I had, it would surely have been for Hungary. Fab song with a girl who could actually sing and thus didn't have to be wearing the skimpiest and/or silliest of things to attract attention

We were musing on how odd it is that certain neighbouring countries that don't have the happiest of recent histories (let alone non-recent histories) happily give each other top points fairly consistently.
I really enjoyed Bulgaria's drumming thing, and the Latvian opera people and the Hungarian Dolly Parton style number as well as the German entry. At least my appreciation was fairly eclectic! Ireland on the other hand really are deliberately entering utter rubbish to avoid winning, aren't they? Surely?
The silverclad astronauts were the Ukraine, SGV. I think.
I've just got back from a rehearsal. Every day between now and the bank holiday Saturday (inclusive) now has some form of singing-related activity. However, I have got rid of this year's final assignment for my librarianship course. Hurrah!

I have spent the afternoon pot-roasting brisket. Never, oh never, decide to check on the brisket just after you have taken your trousers off (previous, more minor, cooking accident) and when wearing a midriff-exposing teeshirt. That only gets worn IN the house at weekends on account of being indecent - why do I own this thing? Anyway. I put the lid off the casserole on the stove-top. It slipped off. My hands were full of spoons and full casseroles. So I disengaged my brain and I caught it by interposing my torso and clutching the lid to myself with my spoon-arm.
Damn, that hurt.
I now have a scarlet crescent to the right of my tummy-button, and a nearly-as-scarlet streak running from my elbow half-way to my wrist. Very owy. Can't now put trousers back on at all because waist-band on burn is too too sore.

Ouch. I'd offer a , butI'm too reserved and British, plus it would probably do more painful harm than good.

Well, I'll - being politically incorrect despite thrity odd years of indoctrination in the home of the Empire (lavender oil, ag. works wonders )

Welcome to the best conversation on the 'net, Tod
Our Aunday has been wet and cold and windy and indoorsy but actually quite ok. We had guests today. After some truly worthy Shawarma sandwiches from a takeaway on Putney Hill, we played Uno. Heh. My son rules. (he cheats, but he rules ) He thrashed us. Over and over and over and over. Very gleefully. I sat back at one point, out of the game, just to be able to watch him. *My* boy

Oh dear, that must hurt.
Tartaronne is completely Angelic, no doubt in that.
And it's Mother's Day here as well.
