Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the new Michael Moore documentary on the American medical industry, especially if this is anything to go by:

Ah, so the British professor I worked with last year was just being British when he so effusively thanked me? And here I thought I had helped him immeasurably by performing some triviality.
Everything everyone needs to know about Jumping the Shark:

And that moment on Arrested Development was sublime. I miss that show.
I can see the western states having stronger statewide identities, but I still don't think they see people from other states as being different, foreign, or "other" in some way (with the exception of tourists, who are always foreign no matter where they are or where they are from).

If it was a Professor, d'E, he probably meant it. British Academics are famously abrupt and grouchy. Except the nice ones, of course .

Nice ones?
Oh yes, the institutional token human academic. The one that knows the words please and thank you, doesn't have food stuck in his (or her) beard and doesn't look at library staff as if they're something unpleasant she (or he) stepped on while wearing their favourite pair of shoes.

Maybe they send the nice ones to America? A professor of music, and a classical musician himself, if that matters. No beard, may have been wearing sandals.

I've found that most of the British academics are quite pleasant. They're very willing to respond to unsolicited emails from graduate students, at any rate.

Am now happily ensconced, in hand, in front of Eurovison, for my annual kitsch-fest. I adore it. Sorry. But if Scooch are even so much in the top ten, I am handing in my European citizenship and applying to Canada, because, really, there's kitsch and there's Oh-Bob-spare-us.

I can't make up my mind about what would be the proper drink for that gay-fest. I think I'll go for with campari.

I spent this afternoon 'doing' Waitrose and Poundland because I refused pointblank to watch Spiderman 3 with and
Pointblank.
We were at Saffside in Wanswuff, the 'epitomy of upandcomingBritain, dontchooknow' (or so I was informed today by my very proper GreekposingasaBrit neighbour)
Heyho. The man of the house and the son and heir are ensconced in front of the telly watching some powerfully empowering masculine testosterone fest.
I am here in the salon, with my wavering accent that blows with the wind, following the cadences and lilts of those I am conversing with. I can do accents though, does that count?

if they are watching the Transporter then join them - it is so silly it is funny and Jason Statham looks fine with his shirt off...

Ooh, Wilma, we were up in Saffsaaaard earlier today too, wandering round and round Waitrose bickering about lager. I am now drinking said lager, and sniggering at just about everything Eurovision. S doesn't do testosterone, bless his heart, so he is watching it too and obediently laughing at all my off-colour jokes (did you SEE Moldova's trousers? I mean, really).

Ag? Ask S if he noticed a rather large odd female staring at him near the DIY check out...
Think that might have been me
(I'll just go watch that filum now, I think )

I'm just discovering Arrested Development, thanks to Sporky. And I already miss that show.
Forget Spiderman 37, or whatever number sequel it is...I get to see Hot Fuzz tonight!

Wilma, I'm sory to say S looks completely blank. But then, when he's concentrating on shopping, he'd be hard put to notice seventeen purple octopi cycling past on tandems playing the banjo. Sorry.
So far, half-way through the voting, the UK has nul points. Bwah hah hah hah

Damn. The Irish have just given us seven points and spoilt it all.

Bagpuss Posted May 12, 2007
That was more than a third of our final total. Mind you the Irish scored even less. Wonder what their song was like - I just got back from the meet so I've not seen much of the show. Not that I watch it that much anyway - it's kind of a laugh, but it's far too long.

Looks like I will be seeing Spidey3 tonight or Hot Fuzz. Not sure which, yet. Spidey, because you lose geek cred if you don't see geek movies, even if they suck. Hot Fuzz because it looks funny.
