If only we lived a bit closer together, someone could pass their copy on to you by now...
I've started painting my world/bomb/gourd. It's going to take a while because I'm using a very impasto technique.

WM, the page is red, white and blue because my board president thought we should do something patriotic when the war started and Rachael got carrried away as usual. Then she quit and I haven't been able to get it off. But it worked ok since we have Memorioal Day, Flag Day and Independence Day all close together.
I'd like a plain, dignified background without any exploding fireworks or falling leaves or dancing snowmen. Right now, I'm so sick of looking at it the way it is that I'd settle for any color that isn't red, white and blue. At Christmas Rachael had the web page playing Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, for heaven's sake! And my patrons loved it. That's what's so bizarre. The more childish the page became, the more compliments we got.
You're the only person other than myself that likes the color of the catalog.
Ti,the reason we have the book jackets pictured is so you can click on them and be taken to a description of the book. Then she started linking to Amazon or B&N, which I hate.
Ben, I got your address. Thanks. I'll send some info on Tuesday when I get back to work. Monday is my day off.

Just finnished HP. And I agree with MR. It is a rare book that makes me emotionally involved with it's characters.
My copy is on loan for a while as of tonight. But whne I get it back i am going to re-read the entire series as a while again. I want to heck continuity, tho I am sure I will find that it is my memory that is faulty and not the story.

we'll talk about that when I get there, Marv. I'd like to know what you think. I'll be firming up plans this next week, and will let you know when I do. It will probably be that Sunday/Monday, since I'll spend a day or so at my Mom's.

It was the flags and stars and angel pictures I was thinking about H., rather than the book covers... does the angel have any connection with the library, or is it there purely for decorative reasons?
I watched a documentary about J.K. Rowlings on TV during the weekend - and she had a lot of things to comment on when it came to things (untrue) that had been written about her - but all in all the general impression I got that she really enjoyed writing those books and that she, like I, would love it if the things in the books were true! And she encouraged others to write too - so well that I think I'll start working on some of my yet-to-be-edited-entries again...
*wonders if the newest Harry Potter book is available in Sweden (in English, undoubtedly the Swedish translation will take some time)*

I think rereading the previous book, HP and the Goblet of Fire, or at least dipping in to it here and there to remind you of the plot might be useful before starting on the new one.
Heavy rain through the night with the odd clap of thunder, next door's broken gutter and people out in the road managed to disturb my sleep last night.

Well the Asparagus went well and the flat cap and muffler club had another outing and my quiz was enjoyed by all participants. Writing quizes is hard work though.

There is a teacher reading The Book behind me as I type. I have expressed an interest in borrowing when she has finished, and am now willing her through it.
My contract finishes tomorrow, too. Plenty of time to take the phone off the hook, and after all I'd have to read it quick cos I'd have to give it back...

Ti, we call that being 'too busy'. When you have too many pictures or too many patterns all thrown together. And I agree. The person who was in charge of the web page is an absolute sweetie, but her ideas of what looked good and mine were often at odds. But she worked cheap and when your budget is as small as ours, it's impossible to hire a professional to do somethng like that. And she enjoyed it so much and the public seems to like it all glitzy like that. I'd rather have the time spent on changing backgrounds and adding little exploding things used to actually work on the content.
Frank is taking me to the Indian restaurant today. It's just 3 blocks from Hastings, so I think I'll pop in and buy another couple of HP's. I decided to extend the check-out time for the kids. They'll never finish it in 1 week, which is our normal time for new books. I'll let them have it for 2 weeks, but still make the adults read it in 1 week. I took Mom into Wal-Mart yesterday and they were sold out already.

I received my copy of Harry Potter at 2pm on Saturday. I ordered through Amazon and, as promised, they had it delivered on release date. I read 79 pages and then was off to see A Mighty Wind at 3pm (worth the wait).
I am only 600 pages into the potter books but I'm not beating myself up about not getting to finish it as I watched about six movies this weekend (including half of die another day last night- damn is that movie long!).
I haven't shed a tear yet but I think something is going to happen in a bit which may provoke a few. I have always found J.K's characters to drive the plot very well and frankly, when characters drive plots (instead of the other way around) you become more involved with them.
I did shed quite a few tears when reading about the girl with cancer whom Rowling contacted a few years ago. It is in this week's time magazine for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

I got a bit cross with various reviewers in the Geardian this weekend( when I wasn't skimming the info about the actual plot) who were being terribly sniffy about adults who read HP and by extention any other kids/teen book. I mean, honestly. *Rolls eyes*

Pah! How could anyone (including the reviewers) have any opinions on so called children's books without reading them?!

Good morning! I'll be back later -- some chores to finish off first, while it's cool.
Kitchen's still empty, I see. I'll bring back some doughnuts.
