I've had the white screen a few times recently. Yesterday I just put it down to the opening day of Wimbledon. I mean everything else is, the high price of strawberries, the weather (good, bad, indifferent), lack of english/british sporting prowess etc
Still got the bag packed for the long weekend last night. I can't believe that I'm finally going. I've been trying not to get all excited about it as after all it's only going to a music type festival but then again it's Glastonbury I'm going to try and keep some kind of journal of my thoughts but that will no doubt go out the window when I get there.

Meetings, meetings - and why do men have to talk the same things over again and again? Sorry about ranting, but being the only woman in the group really made me feel that the men slowed the meeting down something terribly - wise from previous ocassions I calculated it to take 1½ hours (should be done with in 40 minutes if you ask me) but it lasted 2 whole hours!

I did get the WSOD a few times yesterday afternoon. Closing and reopening the browser worked for me. Then I saw Jim Lynn arrive on the who's online and I promptly got a white screen that closing and reopening did not correct. Maybe he's on to something.

I like Marv's theory. I had cleared my cache and switched browsers but still could not get in, and viewing the HTML source revealed an empty document. That was the first time I've seen the white screen.
T, it's not men, it's just a certain sort of person. I've been in meetings where both sexes were guilty.

I'm just back from the gym. My knee is holding up well but I didn't push it due to the problems I'm having today with the atmopheric pressure .

Phil, don't forget the Blistex Intensive Moisturiser, the best stuff for sunburnt lips. After his Glasto experiences, No1 son never travels without it. Also a bumper packet of Wet Ones as he said it was practically impossible to get into the showers, even last year when there were very few gatecrashers.
for Amy.

*bangs head into wall*
I'm starting to regret planning entries on Finland's national epic - I keep stumbling over cross-references in all directions, mostly written by professors of literature, in a language I can barely understand even in Swedish without acquiring a headache - and now I've come across a very interesting but long-winded article on how Longfellow 'borrowed' the Kalevala meter and a whole lot of other stuff from Kalevala when writing 'Song of Hiawatha'

*s Titania* I have that problem when researching Guide Entries too. I have 5000 words on Fire Ants that I really must sort out soon.

Thanks Amy!
It's just that the more I search, the more I find - like the fact that Don Rosa actually draw a Donald Duck story in Kalevala settings, with the old Finnish gods involved in the happenings! That fact will have to go into the section about the influence of Kalevala, which is swelling so much (especially if I add Longfellow) that it'll probably have to be an entry of its own... *sighs*
*drifting off towards the still empty kitchen to carefully retrieve the champagne bottle*
*returns with bottle and glasses*
I need something to cheer me up - help yourselves!
*starts pouring *

Titania, I think the problem with those Meeting Heads you describe is not that they ~like~ to talk about things twice or thrice, but that they weren't listening the first and second times. We have one like that on the Historic Preservation Board. Reg wraps up the discussion with acepting a motion and says "Any other business?" and invariably this one fellow says, "Yeah." and proceeds to ask a question about a matter that was already settled that he now disagrees with or doesn't understand. It generally adds at least 15 or 20 minutes to the meeting, per item.
I had disturbing dreams last night. *goes off to make fresh tea*

That's illegal in Vermont. They have to pay employees for any meetings, even if it is at a coffee shop.
I too was getting the white screen yesterday. I all but gave up on posting.

Nothing works here today! I'm about ready to throw all my computers out the window. The webpage is down and I can't get in touch with the poeple who host it. Cataloging is glitching so I'm waiting for tech support to call me back on that. They usually fix it for me through PC Anywhere, so that shouldn't be a major trauma. I'm trying to figure out how to host my own webpage. I have a new server with nothing on it, so that seems the logical thing for me to do. And my pornography filters have chosen to lock up and not let me disable them. Sometimes I think we have gremlins and other times I'm sure we have.
There isn't a copy of HP to be found within 100 miles of here. Tried all the bookstores, Targets, Wal-Marts. I went in to reorder from B&T and they don't have any, but have 50,000 on order. So I ordered the library bound ones from Scholastic, which were quite a bit higher. The library bound ones last longer...or so they say. I wouldn't know because those are the ones people always steal. But I need more copies than I have asap.

Gawd real life occurs for a few days and you all move without telling me! humm is this a hint
France was a lovely place, and Terri and I got on realy realy really well which was nice though my liver will shortly be going on strike at this rate, red wine is wait for it, less than 1 euro, (75p or 1 dollar abuot) bottle! not to mention the cheese.
I'm starting to worry slighlty about my weight, as I seem to be stedily expanding, I need to motivate myself to loose it, but as I've just started my new term, and I'm moving flat in a weeks time, oh, and I'm going to the london meet this weekend. So I'm not sre when I can go to the gym.
Throws a and at H's computer!
