36.88363% - Major Geek. Rather disapointing really but then again it was rather US oriented
At least you've some idea of what's the problem now S.
Right best get ready to go off and meet up with a few members of the Flact Cap and Muffler club for an outing to Urbis - a new museum type thing to do with the urban experience.
Leaves a plate with some jam buns on, I finally got round to doing that baking I was talking about in the last thread (somewhere) last night.

I got my copy of Harry Potter this morning, but I'm more than halfway through Baudolino, and am going to finish that first. No spoiling!!
The stuff Sally Canning called Texas blueweed is sure acting like black-eyed susans. And the four o'clocks are about knee high now. Pictures later.
*opens the door to the kitchen* No sign of her, just all these tuna fish sandwiches. Well, y'all help yourselves. *opens the butler's hatch and puts the platter out*
I'm not in any hurry to look in the linen closet. If you ask me, the Farmer's Wife needs to have some new experiences.

*reaches for a tuna sandwich, barely lifting her eyes from The Book*
I was going to wait until it was in paperback too, but H treated me Also Waterstones was stuffed full of them so it was hard not to buy one along with my usual 3 for 2.
H has started on the first one as he thought it was about time he found out how the book differed from the films and having read Wee Three Men (or whatever the lastes TP is called) was in the mood for another children's book.

The Book is heavily discounted here. List price is $29.99 and I picked mine up at the Costco warehouse store for $15.69, no pre-order needed. They had a pallet full of them.

That's cheaper that I got them with my library discount. I had to pay 17.09 from Baker & Taylor. The local rag called me on Wednesday and asked if I had planned a party to celebrate the release. Right, we'll stay open till midnight and let everyone there draw straws to see who's the first to check it out. ( Please don't tell me that somewhere a library actually did that.)
Well, our summer reading kickoff was a great success. So I had a party after all. But it has been scheduled for today for months because it's the first day of summer - not because of HP. We had a storyteller/songwriter do a 40 minute program, fed everyone chili cheese dogs, played games, had a singalong and called it quits. The annual seedspit was postponed because all the watermelons at the grocery store were seedless! We'll have it another day after the local melons ripen. So the kids had popsicles for dessert.

The keys have no letters on them, Sol?
I mean - Huh?
Nasty day spent in bed feeling sick and headachy and sleeping.
I craved chicken soup so went to Waitrose where I got a copy of HP for a tenner, (discounted from £16.99 - so not as much of a bargain as some of you have, on the other hand if it is being sold for thirty bucks in the US the list price is over the odds).
I am not about to start reading it: I am still on my Pratchett sequence, (The Hogfather), and I cannot make up my mind whether to re-read the Potters to work up to The Order of the Phoenix, or whether to just jump straight in there.

I am currently 400ish pages in to it. And I have taken twice as many cases as most of my team today.
Impressions so far are that it is a good read. It's getting fairly interesting and there are certainly things in it that I did nto expect.
See? That was spoiler free.

Anyone else here read Baudolino?

Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Jun 21, 2003
I've never heard of Baudolino, Lil. As far as libraries, the Phoenix Public Libraries got their shipments in yesterday, but they didn't register as "in stock" until after close, of course, to keep with their agreements. There were over 300 copies for the entire system of libraries, and my mother was about 200 something on the "hold" list. She reserved it for me (she doesn't read them). So tonight when she gets off of work at the library she'll be bringing my copy. That way I get to read it now, but I don't spoil the aesthetic of my all-paperback collection! I also don't have to pay money
Um... should someone go see if the Farmer's Wife has had an accident? I didn't like the sound of that thud...

Lil, I've started Baudolino but haven't gotten very far. I love Eco and try to read all of his novels, but for some reason I just haven't gotten into it. I turned it back in and think I'll recheck it over the 4th when I'll have 4 days off.
Maybe the have finally put an end to the Farmer's Wife.
As for HP...I made the staff (including me) put their names on the bottom of the hold list, so it will be a while before I get it. I only ordered 4 copies and one on audio. The books came Thursday, but the audio still hasn't come.

Blimey! I am a fast reader, but I get unreasonably inrritated by people who read more quickly than I do...
Well done MR - and thanks for the endorsement.
