That's terrific Courtesy, nesting is such fun!
Is Frank home yet? Hope it all went well Hypatia.
On vision. Tried contact lenses a couple of times but had major problems getting the little blighters out. Putting them in merely made me late for the day job..getting them out was tantamount to a marathon. Decided it was safer just to smile at anyone I met without my glasses and ask someone else to read the menu...more often than not a complete stranger at the wrong table!
take care

Congrats, Courtesy ! What's the deal with Frank, Hypatia ? Let us know.
Looked at the gallery, Lil. I know what I liked but am not sure I know why. Will think about it before judging.

Frank is home. He's doing remarkably well considering he was clinically dead on Wednesday.
They did something to his right foot and he's hobbling around - can barely walk. So I asked him if he wanted me to buy him a cane when I went into Walgreens to get his medicine. Well, he was totally insulted that I thought he was old enough to use a cane! So, I didn't buy one. When I got home I found him limping along behind the vaccuum cleaner. I told him he may as well turn it on if he was going to push it around anyway. If his foot isn't better in a couple of days, I'll just go ahead and buy the cane anyway.

My mother, who has been refusing for the last few years to go any closer to a hospital than she absolutely has to and therefore won't go and get her hips sorted out, has developed a very nice line in incrediably funky canes. Tell Frank to look in it as a fashion accessory. Glad he's doing so well.
Stigmatism/ astigmatism/ stigmata. I knew there was something uncomfortable about that word. At least there's a reasonably rational reason for me getting them mixed up, unlike my problems telling Bruce Springsteen and Frank Sinatra apart. And look at that: I don't have funny eyes after all. See, I knew I didn't.
I've never been able to get up the courage to take the plunge and get contacts. I can't not wear my glasses as I get horrible headaches, though I do wonder if that's not psychological sometimes. Glasses are only irritating in the summer - I really must get some prescritption sunglasses made.

Hypatia, you can tell Frank that you know a 25 year old who had to use a cane for about three months. I was hobbling around from july to september using a walking stick after my surgery last year.

"He's doing remarkably well considering he was clinically dead on Wednesday."
Blimey Hypatia - if you carry on coming out with dry little comments like that I am going to think you are secretly English. It is very good news though.
My phone arrived this morning, so I am able to communicate with the outside world again - and more importantly - if my PL phones, he will get through to me.
We are trying a different variant on radio silence this time. The first time was a total two-way communications black-out, and as you'll remember, I went loopie-doo, though I wrote three poems. The second time I sent emails, but he wasn't able to read them, which made sending them a bit pointless, and I went a bit loopie-doo, and only wrote one poem.
This time - he says - he will get a cell-phone which makes and receives international calls and phone me once in a while. We shall see. I don't actually expect this to happen, but I cannot help being a bit hopeful.
This time, too, I am making sure I am seeing just about every girl-friend I have, partly so that life is interesting and fun, and partly so that I have instant-access to girl-friend-therapy whenever I need it. And hopefully, I will be ok, and not need to write any poems at all.
As I agreed with two of my dearest girl-friends recently - introducing your new man to your girlfriends is worse than introducing your first boyfriend to your parents. They really do have your best interests at heart, and you'll have your girlfriends a lot longer than you'll have the man.
How do men *manage* without that kind of friendship?

Good news for both courtesy and Frank
I'm as blind as a bat without glasses. I've been wearing them since I was about 7, very short sighted (about -8, -8.5ish). I have worn contacts and would like to do so again but till I've got a job I can't afford them (or the new pair of glasses I need), then I'll be able to wear my sunglasses again as I don't have any prescription sunglasses (best change that as well when I can).
Right best go and sort myself out for the interview...

A morning of good news!
Brillaint, Courtesy!
Yay for Frank!
And Galaxy Babe (A128652) has announced her engagement.
I wish the anti-hay fever pills would hurry up and work.
Dashing off to get errands done before it gets scorchio again.

Great news, Courtesy & Hypatia!
My husband is thinking about getting a universal cell phone. The only reason we keep our aol account is that in many of the places he travels it is the only internet access he can get. And some places he can't even get that, hence the desire for the new phone. Although I imagine he might have trouble with the phone, too. He does go to some remote places. In early August he is off to Malaysia for a week. The longest he's ever been gone was a 2 month stint in Thailand.
I can sympathize with you, Ben. But after 23 years, it only drives me mildly nuts. It irritates me more when people constantly ask me if I miss him and how can I stand it.

The landlord is having the Nest inspected tomorrow so that's the rest of the day sorted - I must do some cleaning . He's supposed to give 48 hours notice but I'd rather get it out of the way.

Thanks everyone. His humor is coming back this morning. I was teasing him about the vacuum and he told me that he was just sitting there when he heard this voice saying, "Pick up thy vacuum cleaner and walk."
Off to do board meeting reports.

Is it? I don't think any of us blokes ever noticed.
>>They really do have your best interests at heart, and you'll have your girlfriends a lot longer than you'll have the man.
That will sound familiar to all men
>>How do men *manage* without that kind of friendship?
Again, can I plead total ignorance of what the heck it is you're talking about
