Which leads us to the next question - Storms: Cool or Scary?
That storm sounds like it was wa-a-a-ay cool and also *really* scary, Hypatia.

Singapore was humid when I was there and I'd flown there from the Gulf where it is most definitely humid even though it is desert. Actually I quite liked the feeling of stepping of the plane in Dubai each September. It was like walking into a bowl of soup. The sweat would immediately run down my back. The only problem was that everytime I got out of the car or came out of a building my glasses steamed up.
We're expecting humid weather here tomorrow. It's also high pressure and I'm already feeling unwell . I'm expecting a tough time.
I went to see the doctor yesterday. My normal doctor has a waiting list of five weeks so I saw a locum just to get some paperwork done but he turned out to be really good. He was very informative and did things with the computer that I'm sure my doctor doesn't even know it can do. My risk of a heart attack is 4% apparently, which is very low.
I have no idea what I'm going to do today. I have nothing at all planned and nothing that I must do.

We lived in Singapore for 3 years in the 60s and the only place that was air conditionned was the Magnolia Ice Cream Parlour. But after an aclimatising period, usually 6 weeks, we got used to the heat. We kids spent hours in the heat of the day roaring around on our bikes playing Cowboys and Indians, I suppose that is frowned on now.
It was No1 brother we used to feel sorry for, he only came out for the summer holidays when he had 8 weeks of purgatory as he burnt very badly in spite of applications of Coppertone (I don't suppose it made a lot of difference pre SPF days). No2 brother and I could peel the skin off his back in a whole sheet

Went to bed at 10 and was awakened at 3 by a lovesick cat. Then I started thinking about things and after half an hour I had to stop pretending to be asleep.
I have a book to recommend, "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. How can you resist a book that begins with a disquisition on sloths? I'm about halfway through and looking forward to getting back to it.
And now off to do things with the cool part of the day.

I was up late last night too.
I'm off to the beach today for a week, so I'll see you all soon (after conquering what is sure to be a backforest of logs).
Beach reading:
Necromancer
If I manage to finish it (only 900 pages to go <ok)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Life of Pi is on my Amazon "save for later" list.
Bye for now.
<-- is going to a "Doggy Holiday Resort"

We are having 30 degrees of hight humidity now this summer, punctuated by truly impressive downpours/ thunderstorms every day or so. I got caught in one last week, there's something emensely fun about getting soaked to the skin in huge gobbets of warm raindrops... as long as you are only ten minutes walk away from your house and on your way home.

Somehow I can't picture Zeppo being relaxed. Young dogs are always bundles of energy. Now a cat, I can see in that situation.

I think you're right, Marv. Zeppo is more the beach volleyball type .
For those of an artistic persuasion, there are two articles about graphic design currently in PeerReview

My cat? Yeah, I can see him lounging around the Beverly Wilshire getting his claws done, drinking milk spiked with tuna...oh, very shishi.
I, on the other hand, am good for a motel six.

Cassie is stretched out in the shade under the cherry tree. Every so often she rolls over, pretends to bat at something in the air and rolls onto the other side. She does cute very well and already has devoted staff to see if she wants anything.
*goes off to put out fresh water and kitty kibble*

MR, I am glad to see that your standards are not all that high Because my house is a step or six below a motel6 at the moment. Cleaning starts tonight after work for the next appraisal on Monday.
