Happy birthday, FG, if there's anything left of it!
How to write CV books make me feel terribly depressed, in the same way that Cosmo does. I end up feeling totally inadequate. That said, I work in something of a buyers' market when it comes to jobs.

What Colour is your Parachute is more than just a CV book - it has loads of tools and exercises to help you work out what is important to you in your life. When I worked my way through it I discovered that deciduous trees really matter to me - I need to live near them. And doing the exercises and analyses helped me know that when I was making a really dramatic life change it was the right thing to do.
I do know exactly what you mean about the glossy magazines though. I like Neil Innes' take on them:
I'm the urban spaceman, as a lover second to none,
It's a lot of fun
I never let my friends down, I've never made a boob
I'm a glossy magazine, an advert on the tube
I'm the urban spaceman, baby, here comes the twist
I don't exist.

Neil Innes is a genius, I suppose he is busy somewhere writing but I haven't seen him on tv in years.
As a water sign I like to be near water, but have never managed to live close to it. The river isn't far from here, I'm no good on estimating distances, about a 10 minute walk. But it runs close to the A3, so unless you standing near a weir, traffic noise is the loudest sound. I would love to have a stream running through the garden.
Rather a grey day today, but mild so I expect the spring flowers will be stretching up a little further, the daffodils are almost out.

Happy birthday FG.
I have had the parachute book recomended to me. Perhaps I should get it and it might help me out.
Today so far has been rainy then grey.
How did the trip to the hospital go Amy? Are they any more clued up on what's wrong or did they just say that yes, it's still there but I don't know what to do about it?

The second of the two options I'm afraid Phil . The was very sorry he couldn't make me better though. He'll see me again this time next year .

Amy, if conventional medicine isn't working, maybe you should explore some other options. Holistic medicine really works. And it's cheaper, doesn't produce toxic side effects, and puts you in control of your health which is a major psychological advantage. I think modern medicine is terrific at dealing with crisis situations, but doesn't do a very good job just keeping us well.

Have to concur with Hypatia there, Amy.
Come to find out we have a nest of bees in the vent over the stove. And since we're in Southern California, we have to have specialists come out and check it, since they might be africanized bees. I think we'll be eating out until they fix the problem, that's all I have to say!

But if the vent is for letting out smoke, why don't you just burn some chops? Smoke tranquillizes bees.
Life drawing group this morning.

Well, I am back to work, but with only one login functioning. No email, no voicemail, no access to the internal sites... This is going to be a productive day.

And MR, make sure nothing blocks the vent's outlet. We once lived in an old 1864 farmhouse and had screens put on the tops of the chimneys when we were having their brickwork repaired. A couple of days later, we had a bat in the house. We managed to evict it, but then had a bat in the house every few days for the next month or so. It was only much later that we realized where they were coming from. They were living in the chimney and could no longer get out the top, so they found their way around the damper at the bottom and into the house.

*waves to everyone* I go to an alternative therapy centre too. They can't fix me either but they have helped me to cope with the symptoms better.
I am now resigned to not getting better; I just hope I don't get any worse. There are more things that conventional medicine can do once my eyesight starts to go but there's no need for any of that yet. If I feel concerned about my eyesight at any stage they'll see me within days - or possibly hours.

::sorry to hear that people are unwell and have killer bees in their belfry::
My birthday ended on a sour note when one of my brothers, Peter, called me in a drunken state to inquire whether or not I loved him, what our father's telephone number was and when I was coming to visit. The conversation ended with the promise of a visit by the police if such calls in the wee small hours were to continue.

Sorry to hear that, sweetie.
Well, the problem with the bees, as I understand it, is that the way in is blocked, and so they have to figure out how and where they are getting in before they can get rid of them. I say flush it out, look for where they're leaving the building, cap it off, and then call it good. But no. They want to get all technical on me.
My friend just emailed from london. The apartment on Bridge street is huge, the job rocks, etc. Maybe I should have gone into computers and become a systems ...whatever the heck he is.
