Gaaahh! Slightly scary entry on today's front page: 'Computer Game Brain Saturation Syndrome' - I discovered that I have on one ocassion reach stage three - looking at ventilation shafts in RL, thinking they might come in handy for a quick get-away and wondering where they might lead to if I climbed inside!
There was this German pronounciation entry yesterday, where the pronounciation of the letter 'a' in the German word 'Vater' was described as the 'a' in the English word 'Father' - but to me they don't sound the same...
...but after reading another of today's edited entries (Received Pronounciation) I'm not sure what to think (not sure of what kind of pronounciation I have of English) - those among the Salonistas that speak German - what do you say?

I think they are very close, but not precisely the same. The German "a" is shorter than the English "a", at least in American English. We tend to make all our vowels into murmur dipthongs, in this case "fahther".
Maybe we should all chip in and buy Lil a new refrigerator so we can keep an eye on her and make sure she is OK.

I cough on your high-tech fridge. I have over a dozen magnets all over mine.
I'm very very tired, and will be working with some java templates today. I wish I had more RAM in my meat brain.

A weeks backlog, but I did it!
I'm glad to tell you that I'm fit and well again, after a weeks battle against a virus. I guess the cold makes them bold...
A friend of mine has a club for "those who never got to be the St. Lucia even if they had long blond hair when they were kids".. They meet every 13th December and talks bitterly amongst themselves over drinks. Maybe I should apply for membership.
I think if I just leave the fridge alone long enough, it will develop intelligence on it's own.

Hmmm... are you sure you don't mean that the things inside the fridge will develop intelligence, Bee?

Three things:
1. God bless Lil while doing EVERYthing in the world AND preparing the Pantomime. Get Well Soon.
2. Where the heck are the new smileys coming from & how do I stuff 'em into my posts? [Never mind. I just hadn't scrolled down far enough.] Hey do you get a blue if you've been out in the too long with no blouse?
3. [Lurk mode engaged until Lunch] Oh, look it IS Lunch!

I come from a German-speaking family, and I've always heard a similar "a" in Vater and father. But then again, I have a bit of hearing loss. Too many I guess.

Today looks to be like another marathon. I have to put out a fire that was created by another engineer and get into an argument with someone in North Carolina because I think he is an idiot who can't read. Is it too early in the day for a ?

Waves frantically to everyone.
to Lil and offers old library refrigerator to anyone who needs one.................failing to mention that it was used to store "specimens" from the OR in the old hospital before it was given to the library. Hey, it's ok.........it's been cleaned at least twice since then.
Caer, so glad you have a new kitty.

We bought our xmas tree on Sunday and went to decorate it last night to find out that none of our billion strands of lights work completely. None of the strands are interchangeable, etc. etc. Argh. Now a trip to the almighty wal*mart is in order this evening.
Key: Complain about this post
