It's strange, Sol. I like everything (with the notable exception of suet) that goes *into* a mince pie. I like other meat or spice and fruit combinations such as empanadas, chutney, tagine, you name it. There's just something about mince...
We're planning on going to a Two Towers matinee this weekend. It may be a mistake what with the kids being out of school and all, but we're willing to take that risk. Also, the people who were willing to stand in line early for tickets last year have since moved. We also have big plans to sneak food into the theater. It's frowned upon here in the States by movie theater owners. Otherwise, who would buy that small bag of popcorn for $10.00? Because my parents are notorious for once sneaking in a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, I feel the need to keep up a Family Tradition. We're thinking burgers and fries. I have a big bag. My friend Jen has a huge parka. Joe wears incredibly baggy pants. We can do it.

Ah, how I wish I was there to share in the fun of that....I sneak constantly. I'm sorry, but four bucks for a bottle of water is insane. And a matinee down here in OC is 6 bucks as it is!
Heresy? Not to like mince pie? Then burn me, I say, burn me!!!!

No, I can't quite read by the lights of the tree... does that mean I need more?
My plan to buy a ticket at lunch was foiled as they're not selling them in advance. [insert expletive]
As much as I like the idea of having a smiley, I think it is too hard of a thing to pull off at such a small size.

While I must fulfil the compromise that I made yesterday and actually go in to the office today, I am going to try to put that off as long as possible.
I am still in awe over the film (don't worry, I shall not discuss what could be considered spoilers etc). I am quite exhausted at the moment, the extremely long day coupled with a caffeine crash had me actually slepeing this morning. But now all is well and I can hardly wait for another viewing of the film.

I was fine until I took the medicine. *slumps back down on the sofa and falls asleep against the arm*

Since it is so near Christmas, I think it is time to break out original Christmas Haikus...
Christmas time is here
Take time to appreciate
friends and family.

Laundry done. Bathroom to clean, kitchen floor to wash, and then we tackle the kid's room...and then I am done, and will have a clean house to come home to after Christmas....
YEAH!
OOh, sorry. I didn't wake anyone, did I?

I've just realised that the Kelly Bronze turkey I've ordered at no little expense, is a tad too large for the 3 of us that eat meat. So shall be freezing some for later, after Cassie has had her share.
H will be having the veggie recipe from the UK version of Good Housekeeping, providing I get it ready tomorrow and in the freezer for next week.
In case anyone is concerned or cares , I do use veggie (low fat) suet for the mince pies.
A bonus is that whilst rummaging in the understairs cupboard (or glory hole) in order to find room for the case of Chateauneuf-du-Pape I have unearhted a box of s from last year.

Ahem. Christmas Haiku:
the dead of winter
rosy cheeks and eyes aglow
pines decked with bright lights

Freezing death beckons
Snow falls covering the land
I pray for the spring

Blue-Eyed BiPedal BookWorm from Betelgeuse (aka B4[insertpunhere]) Posted Dec 18, 2002
Chilled lips part to kiss
Under bare trees flocked in white
Spent breath a delight
Snuggle in blankets
Before a blazing yule fire
Planning days to come
Icicles dripping
Silent shush of feet in snow
Broken by snowballs
Frost in the treetops
Reflecting midnight starshine
Walking hand-in-hand
Sharing all our days
Cuddling to find a warm spot
B4 winter leaves

All of our snow on the valley floor has melted, but the snow up on the benches where my house is is still there.

Mac (having trouble typing with a pug dog in his lap) Posted Dec 19, 2002
Mrs. Mac was a Sims Online playtester. She says it's fun enough to be addictive, but too buggy for the price they are asking, now that playtesting is over she won't be playing.
No trees here, we can't pug-proof them.

Oh, nice poems. I wish I could do that!
Saw The Two Towers last night. I'm still in Middle Earth somewhere.
