MR, I would rather not take over your hangover. I have one coming tomorrow morning I am sure.
I was a good boy last night and did not drink.

Greetings, Salonistas...Lil, a very wet season here in central Fl. Still, I have a small but sweet crop of Pineapple Oranges in my backyard trees so I picked some this morning and brought a basket to Matina. Sour oranges are plump this year...looks like I'll be making Mojo soon for holiday Cuban food feast.
~ox...alive, well, and aging like a fine wine

*still ranting about EU, possibly trying to avoid dealing with her own life*
Actually besides all kind of officials and clerks the farmers will have some advantage of joining EU.
Oh, I forgot to mention that alcohol and tobacco will be much more expensive too.

Lil, are you still reading The Eyre Affair? Good, isn't it? I read its sequel, Lost in a Good Book, a few weeks ago, and it's just as good.
*Waits impatiently for The Well of Lost Plots to come out in... July, I think.*
I had a look at that Santa's Nice-o-Meter thingy. Got the same as Hati. I think he's got some Tonxters mixed up.
I like the idea of the BBC. It's one of the things keeping me in England. Of course, it's not always great... Fame Academy, anyone?

No, didn't watch any of Fame Academy, the trailers were enough to make me avoid it. But Daniel Deronda was the Beeb on form.
H cooked supper, so I had better clear the kitchen up before bed.

Professor, I liked The Eyre Affair, but I am positively delighted with Lost In a Good Book, and I herewith recommend it to all my fellow Amurrican salonistas. And buy it off amazon.co.uk if you can, where you can get both books in paper. Only The Eyre Affair is being sold by amazon dot com, as a hardback, and the second one (the title of which has been changed) isn't available yet. The author's name is Jasper Fforde, yes, two f's. Thanks again, Munchkin, for recommending this in the first place! I have actually been sticking postits on different pages where an idea is particularly well expressed.
The post office is a beastly place to work at Christmas, especially a post office that follows manual procedures. Every delivery confirmation has to have its number written out twice, once on the log page and once on the pink slip for the customer's box. Eight DC parcels will hold up your morning. Add all the out-of-towners who bring their Christmas cards to Lincoln for the special Billy the Kid postmark, the 30-odd other parcels coming in and requiring distribution, and the parcels and letters coming in from regular customers, and you have a right marathon.
Is anyone else using a program called Mojoworld? I am in love.

Lil, at least you don't work for the post office in Bethlehem, PA. It must be at least 10 times worse there.

I'm reading 'The Future Homemakers of America' by Laurie Graham, very enjoyable. Just finished 'The Road to Nab End' by William Woodruff, which is about his northern childhood in the 1920s.

Thanks Caer - I'm feeling a bit better now after having had a tomato-Feta-jalapeƱo pie for lunch - it seemed to clear my nostrils *breathes through her nose with obvious pleasure*
...I'm thinking of using one of the free-sample-bags I have in my cupboard to make ... *reads on bag* ...some kind of Paneng Red Curry Thai Chicken... it contains (among other things) chili pepper, kaffir lime, garlic, galanga, onion, ginger, cilantro and lemon grass - that ought to keep my nostrils clear!
...but my body thermostates seem to have gone haywire - I'm hot, I'm cold, I'm hot, I'm cold - but no fever...
*off to figure out why her computer thinks she ought to install a drive routine(?) for StudioWorks 771B (never heard of it) after she installed Windows 98 today*

I think I'm catching a cold. No surprise there. d'E, at least at the major cities they have things like automated franking...

Phew! Well, that Thai certainly took care of my body thermostate problem - it's set to 'hot' all over right now...

Nothing like a curry for clearing your sinuses. Perhaps there is some truth in 'balancing in the humours' by using the appropiate herbs and spices in cooking.
I'm still wondering about thre green tea, though. I'm beginning to almost (but not quite) like it.

All of those are quite true.
It's the whirlwind weekend of holiday parties. Last night it was a friend's birthday party, to which came folks I didn't expect, who then dragged me to the Chemistry formal...in jeans.
But, surprise surprise...no hangover!
