Appropriate salutations and solicitations, all.
(BLOG stare)
Why can't we put stipulations on the election of a new leader in Pal.? This seems a much nicer way of effecting the changes we want compared to our usual methods (Chili, Argentina, Phillipines). Straight up, money for a new guy. And as for the method of election, why not try the Oregon (or whatever) method of mailing everyone a ballot and having them mail it back. Strengthens the postal system and keeps everyone inside and away from gatherings of ominous size and nature. (Might save some bullets, too.)

Hi agB, hi Ox! Long time no see!
Thunderstorm yesterday, and thunderstorm again today - do you call it thunderstorm even when there is no wind, just flashes and thunder?

* a hologram begins to form in the middle of the salon. It is Lil again, looking better than last time but still rather wan*
*the hologram coalesces for just long enough that Lil can see what a fine job Caerwynn did of launching the new conversation and to consider having a salonista lead off more often...*
*and then the hologram goes out like a candle*

well, the kitchen is totally packed except the coffee pot, one saucepan, and one frying pan, three of each utensil, and a pancake turner (don't ask!). i am currently cleaning the stove rings (or whatever you call those things that sit around and underneath electric burners!). then, after a few quick errands, i will be moving on to my room, making sure that all of my clothing is packed except those that i will be wearing on my back for the next week.
marv, glad to hear the knees are coming back. sol, dearest, good luck on your wedding, and i will send good weather thoughts your way. sea, we will be there next monday....so, what do you say to helping us unload, and i will buy the pizza and pop?!
(okay, i will admit it....i dread unloading the uhaul in irvine, since we know absolutely no one!)

Munchin -
I'm not sure how I feel about the peace proposal. First, I really don't like the idea that the West needs to get involved in the first place. I understand that as a result of our supporting the Israeli state, we need to help with the peace process, however there is a difference between helping/facilitating and being the only people wanting it.
*sigh* I'm starting to think that neither Israel or Palestine want any type of peace and that they would be completely happy continuing the current status ad infinitum.
I'm not saying that the people themselves want this, but it seems that the politicians on both sides really don't mind the current state.
I heard something on the news yesterday which also struck a cord, it stated that that Bush's plan is asking the Palestinians to wait 3 more years for something they were promised 10 years ago.

MR -
If you are going to be in Irvine then you will be about 15 minutes away from me. If you would like to be shown around then email me, I know some great food places.
Marv -
Glad to hear about the knees and the meds. I am like you and will stop the medication as soon as I can stand the pain, my greatest fear is becoming addicted to some kind of pain killer.

i had no idea you were moving mr. i love packing, it is the unpacking bit which i dread.

Courtesy38 Posted Jun 25, 2002
The packing part is my favorite because I use it to get rid of all the stuff I really thought I needed but in fact never think about.
My mantra is that if I haven't thought about it since the last time I moved, I throw it away or donate it. I figure if I need it again, I can just buy a new on which will probably be better.

Becoming addicted to pain killers? Somehow I imagine that it has something to do with what kind of person you are...
... - when I broke my ankle I just *had* to take prescribed pain killers day and night - double dosis before going to bed or I would wake up in the middle of the night because of the pain...
...after 10 days of one pill every 4th hour I started worrying about getting addicted, but towards the end of the second week the pain finally was easing, and I could cut down and eventually stop taking them - phew! What a relief!
What made me think though was when I studied the instructions that came with the pills - and realized I had never come closer to an easy way to kill myself. Don't worry, I have never considered committing suicide, too fond of life - but it felt odd holding something that could so easily make such an impact in my hand...

Congratulations to:
Lil, for getting approval for your house
Marv, for getting knee improvements
Sol, for getting this far with your wedding organizations without having a breakdown
MR, for getting this far with your packing without killing a family member
Caer, for a fine intro
Regarding Israel/Palestine:
Sharon doesn't want peace. He wants an excuse to obliterate the palestinians - a final solution. He has been provoking them ever since he came to power and doing everything he can to prove to the Israeli people that you can't deal with the Palestinians. The Israeli people are sick of the fighting and want peace and they nearly had it a few years ago, but Sharon will have none of peacemaking.
On the other side, Arafat doesn't want peace, either. I forget why not. These views are paraphrased from an astute columnist and made alot of sense when I read them. Unfortunately, I can't find the original article, but here are two others by him worth reading:
http://www.converge.org.nz/pma/cra0364.htm
http://www.freedomsite.org/pipermail/fs_discussion/2001-February/001461.html
The first one might offer some insight into the new Bush deal. The second one gives an interesting view of the whole conflict.

Th etrouble I have with pain meds is that I am very afraid of addiction. I know that I could eaisly go down that path if I allowed myself. As it was I used them for about 36 hours only. The reserve to be kept for one year then flushed down the loo.

to Lil.
Hi to agc Ben ::waves::
Commiserations to all affected by the language moderation
- hope I haven't forgotten anything...if so, please forgive me.
Avebury - I went there a couple of years ago and had to dash round madly in between first bus from Salisbury and last bus back (about 3 hours) in order to see the stones (very impressive), the museum (fascinating), Silbury Hill also impressive, and West Kennet Long Barrow (eerie being inside such an ancient burial chamber).
Hopefully going to the Eden Project this summer when we visit some friends in Cornwall - looking forward to it
I've been writing a few songs recently ( - whatever next?! )and working on putting a few mp3 snippets on the Fiend website. Also working on the artist profile pages...starting with my own of course!
I'm thinking of sending out samples of some of my more atmospheric/ambient music to film/theatre companies and have been considering approaching music publishing companies too.....nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Off to Leicester this weekend to visit my cousin - haven't been there to see her for about 3 years.

Personally, I found the calming shot they gave me before the spinal anaesthisia much more worrying - I was in 7th heaven during the entire surgery, grinning like most of the time, except for when I fell asleep (being sooooo relaxed) - now, that is something that could get me addicted - not a worry in the world, everybody being soooo nice, everything sooooo amusing - even the shot in my spine...
Could you please lean forward?
Sure!
A little bit more, please
Sure! No problem!
OK, I'll insert the needle now!
OK! *interestedly studying the floor which was the only thing she could see bent over double*
Done!
Already? *slightly disappointed, expecting it to be a little bit more dramatic, and probably wanting to instead, but unable to, since somebody hooked up the corners of her mouth and fastened the hooks to her ears*
Hi, I'm Helena, I'm taking over after Eva and I'll be checking your pulse and blood pressure!
Niiiice!
The corners of my mouth actually ached after the surgery - I seem to have had my face set in a for the length of it!

{[caer csd] epidural or spinal pain relief is wonderful, you can keep natural childbirth, highly overrated. Personally, I feel being able to lay an egg, shove it in the oven on 'warm plates' for a few months is the way to go.
Gas and air doesn't take the pain away, but at least you think it is someone else's. Most painkillers aren't addictive, but dependancy can be a problem.
Glad to hear the wedding arrangements are under control, Sol , wish we could all come. Perhaps we should hold a VR reception!}
