Congrats, sea! What's it like? And good luck on the moving front, MR. Just think how great it'll feel when you're all unpacked and stuff. And well done Marv! You hang on in there.
I wish you could all come too, Caer. I wish also I didn't keep seeing people I know, and realising that probably I should have invited them. And wishing I had, as I'd forgotton how much I liked them. I'm definitely coming round to the Best Freind method of getting married: bugger off to forn climes and dare everybody to follow you...

{[caer csd] MR, hope all the packing is still going well. My house looks like a bomb site now both sons are home, can't imagine clear floors let alone surfaces.
Marv, remember to never look a new cat straight in the eye either, its confrontational. Most cats find 'loving' looks pretty irrestistible, if the cat closes its eyes back at you, then you are very nearly life long buddies.
Sol, you could always throw party after your return, that is if you are having a honeymoon, for those you weren't able to invite to the wedding.}

I've been to Newgrange, which is also a reconstruction. At least one of the mounds had a castle built on it at one stage, because it was nice and defensible. I don't really remember that much - spirals carved on many of the stones, the darkness inside the mound, and the rather dim tour guide we had. They have a light set up to mimic the dawn at spring equinox, when the sun enters the chamber.

No way, Caer. It's killing me to be even this organised. Especially as I promised to do something in England to at some point...

Newgrange is on my list of places to go to, along with Skara Brae. I am always very impressed with what Stone Age peoples could do if they put their mind to it. Especially considering the difficulty I have getting up in the morning.

Again thanks to all who have wished me luck and a speedy recovery. I am doing much better today and can walk almost normally, albeit slowly. The cat is still being a pill. But I cannot blame him. he was feral at one point and then got his tail caught in an engine at one point. The trauma must have been tremendous. He then was put into an animal shelter and lived in a cage for a couple of years. Then my dad adopted him. He is a nice cat, but terribly shy.

Was away in business with no computer access, and will probably be away during most of Thursday too - Sol, could you please make sure we keep up with the rest of the posse?

Feeding the cat is actually quite a good idea, if your knees let you bend yet, Marv.
Sadie was a rescue cat, we got her from the RSPCA, nearly 6 years ago now. She had been badly treated too and it took a good 4 years for her to trust us totally. But each minor acheivement meant a great deal to us. I have always had cats over the years and have got to know how to gain their trust including Minnie a psychocat who was dumped in a monsoon drain when we lived in Singapore, but Sadie was a real challenge. In spite of the RSPCA saying they would take her back any time, we weren't prepared to give up on her. We were her third home and No2 son and I were determined it would be her last. We finally knew she was 'our' cat when after 4 years, she let us tickle her tummy. There is definitely hope for your Dad's feral cat, he or she will trust you eventually.
Sol, your wedding is exactly that, yours, and you do just what you want, there are always going to be people you would have liked to invite, but there are also budgetry and time limits. The most important thing is that you have the day you want and enjoy it!
Hope all is well with the move so far MR.
I also hope that Lil is ok too, and that those fires stay under

....how does it feel... um, scary? i'm a bit worried about my finances, seeing as all my wages and loan money will be gone to tuition, school fees, rent, and food...
but on the bright side, i'll have a fabulous apartment, and while i won't exactly get to "decorate" it per se, it'll still be fun. and i'll be nice and close to school and my friends, so that'll be really good.
all in all, i'm excited. YAY!

evening all, some semblance of civilisation, been around and about Nepal and teh Sub-Continent and now sitting in jolly nice surroundings in Phuket with Mrs Monk and small monklets recovering from a rather challenging few weeks. Hope all are well IRL, havent even looked at BLOG, and so am rather trusting that Lil who was lost is now found, and that assembled salonistas are ailment free and at one with karma and in wa with surrounds etc etc. Too much to say but looking forward to returning to the green and verdant isle, is there any form of Summer weather happening yet? I have missed out on teh soccer blah, and the jubilee, although gather that there was some mightily impressive marching and stuff from teh heroes of democracy. Are there any activities I need to be aware of in my transition back to inhabitant of the world? Big love, or equivalent non threatening sentiment of affection to all salonistas.
