Ah yes, Valentine's Day. Just February the 14th in my book. smiley - winkeye

h2g2 was acting up a few minutes ago. It looks to me like the new DNA engine hasn't actually been fully installed yet. If you look at the error pages we get you'll notice the server doesn't actually know what to /do/ with the URLs it's getting. smiley - erm

Morning all - it's going to be a sweltering 38ºC (about 100ºF smiley - yuk) here today...sunny is nice, but sometimes it just goes overboard...

That's been happening a fair bit, Chris - the other day the stats page was telling me that there were -1 researchers! smiley - erm

The immune system is actually extremely complex, far more than two parts. I work with a microbiologist, and she has told me all about it. Over lunch. smiley - yuk Vaccines are too specific to be detrimental in the way you describe, GL, but antibacterial soap, antibacterial shampoo, antibacterial toothpaste, antibacterial onion rings, etc. can affect the immune system by depriving it of something to target. There is some evidence suggesting a link between the overuse of antibacterial items and auto-immune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, asthma, thyroid disease, and so on.

And so I refuse to clean my house, for health reasons. smiley - ok

Hi guys, been lurking around. Is it the new engine? I have had 0 researchers, been fooled to believe that my page was wiped out, and just now, an entry that or which I replied to showed up but didn't register as registered, and yes, I did refresh. MDsmiley - dog

Is today Thursday? We should have had a Downtime to apply some "Service Packs" smiley - groan to the database server. It was on the <./>Announcements</.> Page.

There was supposed to be a "Hello Mediocrodane" in that last posting. I blame a temporal distortion. I'm sitting too close to Affy and GL.

/* Moves to the other sofa */

That "hello" will probably turn up sometime, maybe in one of the pre-Rupert threads that is still awaiting moderation.

d'E, if I didn't know better, I'd get the impression that you thought that temporal rifts and spatial anamolies followed GL and myself around. smiley - winkeye

Titania (gone for lunch)

I enjoy wathcing the sun, the sky and the clouds - as long as they don't form an even layer - as you might have noticed from my occasional descriptions...smiley - smiley

Yesterday I saw one of the oddest clouds I've ever seen... it was very thin, almost transparent, so it had a shade of blue. In the middle it looked very curly, like lamb's wool, but towards the edges it looked like fur (no, not feathers, fur!) and I could even see the separate long hairs in the fur...smiley - bigeyes

I've heard that you can foretell the weather by looking at the clouds - but what would a cloud like this tell you?smiley - huh

T I think the things to note when reading clouds are what shape they are, how high and how fast they're moving.

Here it's bright and sunny again. There does look to be a frost overnight and it'll probably be cold in the wind but it still is nice to look at some blue sky for a change smiley - smiley
