Das Studium heißt „Jura“ oder “Jus”. Ich glaube man kann auch „Rechtswissenschaften“ sagen. – The studies are called „Jura“ or „Jus“. I think you can say „Rechtswissenschaften“ as well.
An example for the usage of „Recht“:
„Es ist mein Recht das zu sagen.“ – „It’s my right to say this.“

Studying law must be tough – you have to learn so much by heart, don’t you?
Das Jus-Studium muss anstrengend sein – man muss so viel auswendig lernen, nicht wahr?

Mein Freundin ist Rechtsanwalte. Sie hasst es, weil sie Dumbe Leuten verteidigen mussen. Aber die er...Einkommen?...ist sehr gut.

My friend is a lawyer. She hates it because she has to defend stupid people. But the pay is very good.

Ich bin noch nicht Rechtsanwalt, aber wie ich mache meine Degree (nachtes Jahr hoffentlich), ich kann mehr lernen, und Rechtsanwalt bekommen. Aber, wie ich Qualifizeirt bekommen, ich will nur im meine Job blieben, und dass besser machen.
Meine Angst zum Rechtsanwalt bekommen ist ich muss verteidigen böse Leute dass ist klar schuldig.

I am not yet a lawyer, but if I get my Degree (hopefully next year), I kann study further, and become a laywer. But, if I qualify, I will stay in my job, but do it better.
I'm concerned about ecoming a lawyer and defending bad people who are clearly guilty.

Ich bin jetzt "Contract Manager" (I won't tranaslate, as this is the official title, even in a big German firm that begins with "S" and ends in "S" and makes mobile phones, computers, and lots more), und gebe Bauvertraglich Ratschlag (sehe auch meine Anmeldung).

I'm now a Contract Manager, and give advice on construction contract matters (see also my details).

"to become" has nothing to do with the German "bekommen":

to become - werden

to get - bekommen

example:
I want to become a lawyer.
Ich möchte Rechtsanwalt (Rechtsanwältin) werden.

I got a present.
Ich habe ein Geschenk bekommen.


"Das Einkommen" is the right translation for "the pay", Katkat.

Meine Prüfung ist nachste Mittwoch, aber von Donnerstag bis Februar muß ich nicht zu lernen (ausnehmen Deutschsprache !).

My exam is Wednesday, but from Thursday until February I nothing to learn (except German !).

Ich will KatKat erfreuen, und "official member" werden. Ich binsehr verlegen (?) , aber bin bin ich fast vier Jahre im Deutschland, und ich kann noch nicht gutes Deutsch sprechen, oder schrieben - mein Chef ist eine bischen frustrieren (?).

Ich bin Englisch - ich denke dasss ist keine Überaschung !

I will make KatKat happy and become a officila member. I'm a bit embarrassed to say, but I've been here almost four years, and cannot speak or write good German - my boss is rather frustrated.

I don't think it will surprise you, but I am English.

I suppose when there’s a question mark following a word you want to know whether it’s right or not…

It’s okay to say “Ich bin sehr verlegen.” – no mistake in here.

„Mein Chef ist ein bisschen frustriert.“ (the term was okay, but mind the word ending)


Deutsch ist leider keine einfache Sprache. Daher kann ich gut verstehen, dass du Probleme hast sie zu lernen. Aber: Übung macht den Meister!
Wie geht das eigentlich, dass du „Englisches Recht“ in Deutschland studierst? Gibt es da Angebote, oder machst du ein Fernstudium?


Unfortunately German isn’t an easy language. That’s why I can understand why you have problems in learning it. But: practise makes perfect!
I’d be interested to know how it’s possible to study “English Law” in Germany. Do they offer courses there, or do you study by correspondence courses?

Die "Open University" (http://www.open.ac.uk/) hat vielen Kursen, aber Jura ist sehr tuer, und braucht vier Jahre (plus "Credit Transfer"). Die Prüfung kann mann machen im München, und alles andere ist bei Post oder Internet.
Nach Ihre Prüfung mann braucht ein Jahr mehr Studieren (Vollzeit), und zwei Jahr im Rechtanswalt Praxis.
Ich denke auch dass "Lawyers" im England verdienen nicht so veil als Duetschland.

The Open Universtiy has lots of courses, but Law is expensive, and lasts four years (plus "Credit Transfer"). You can take the exams in Munich, and everything else is by correpondence or over the Internet.
After your exams, you need one year full-time study, and two years working in a legal practice.
I think (some) English laywers earn less than their German counterparts.

My company did pay for my lessons, but no longer. I learnt the basics, but haven't had the time to learn more (my excuse).

Klingt so als hättest du sehr viel zu tun: für Prüfungen lernen, deine Arbeit, Deutsch lernen, Familie… Das deutsche Wort für „lawyer“ ist übrigens „der Rechtsanwalt“. Ich nehme an du ziehst schließlich zurück nach England, weil du ja „Englisches Recht“ studierst. Damit kann man in Deutschland vermutlich nicht viel anfangen, oder?



Sounds as if you have a lot to do: learning for exams, your job, learning German, family… By the way, the German word for „lawyer“ is „der Rechtsanwalt“. I suppose you’ll finally go back to England, because you study “English law”. I doubt that there’s any use for “English law” in Germany, is there?

Hi Katkodl,

Oops - Buchstabierenfehler an "der Rechtsanwalt" - Ja, ich habe veil zu tun, aber so ist das Leben .
Ich arbeit bei ein große Firma, und meistens Verträge sind unter Englischesrase Verträge, deshalb Englisches Rechts ist eine gutes Grundsatz.
Und was machts du mit deine Zeit ?

Oops - typo on - "Rechtsanwalt" - I suppose I do have a lot to do, such is life.
I work in a large firm, and most contract are under English type law, therefore, English law is a good grounding.
What do you do with your time.

Ich glaube wir hatten schon mal eine ähnliche Diskussion hier, ich weiß nicht meher genau, um was es ging, aber es war der Grund warum ich es vorgezogen habe, mich zurückzuziehen und zu 'unsubscribe'


I think we already had a similar discussion here, I can't recall exactly, what it was about, but it was the reason why I preferred to retreat and to unsubscribe
