Ich hab nur eine Vorschau zum Film gesehn und mir gedacht:"Nein, das brauch ich nicht sehn."

I only saw a preview of the film and thought "no, I don't have to see that."

Du bist wohl zu jung, nehme ich an. Ich erinnere mich vage um was es geht, das genügt um mich vom Film abzubringen.

Vielleicht könnt ihr mir bei der Klärung einer Situation behilflich sein.

Da ich gelegentlich mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln unterwegs bin, fiel mir ein, endlich einmal ein englischsprachiges Buch zu lesen.

Da taucht nur das Problem auf, was zu tun ist, wenn unbekannte Vokabeln zu übersetzen sind.

Oder ist es besser, erst einmal mit leichterer Lektüre zu beginnen?

As I am occasionally on the way, crossed my mind, to read an English book.

In that, only the problem arises, what is to do, if unknown vocabularies are to translate.

Or would it be better to start with an easier reading.

Hast du was bestimmtes im Sinn? Normalerweise solltest du einfach über unbekannte Vokabeln hinweg lesen. Entweder sie sind nicht so wichtig, oder sie erklären sich aus dem Kontext.



Do you have something special in mind? Usually, you shouzld just skip unknown vocabularies. Either, they're not important, or they explain themselves through the context.

Leichte Lektüre für den Anfang ist sicher nicht verkehrt. Aber ich halte es ohnehin meist so, dass ich nicht jedes Wort nachschlage, solange ich den Sinn verstehe. Ich lese einfach darüber hinweg wenn mir mal eines unbekannt ist.

Easy literature is surely not the wrong way to begin with. But I handle it that way: I do not look up every unknown word, as long as I understand the meaning. I just go on reading if one (word) is unknown to me.

In der U-Bahn oder im Bus einen Taschen-Übersetzer zu benutzen, wäre doch etwas umständlich.

Although, to use a pocket translator in the tube or the bus, would be a little bit circumstantially.

deshalb lese ich ja einfach durch (aber auch zu Haus, ich bin einfach zu faul zum nachschlagen)

Well, you're right (Du hast recht!) a bit....Ukraine speaks more than it's native language...our second one is Russian...I didn't have to learn it, I just was born with Ukrainian and Russian in my heart!

Well, there is also 'surzhik' -our third language-a mix of Ukrainian+Russian...
